Potter is winning Best VFX because of the due factor as well. ROTPOTA is the runner-up. Anyway...GOOD NEWS! Potter made the National Board of Reviews Top 10 list! The winner was Hugo. FULL LIST: The Artist The Descendants Drive The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Hugo ***** The Ides…

A nomination for Visual Effects is definitely going to happen, then. We have 5 nominees. Except for Potter, I can only think of Hugo and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The other two will be random choices, like The Tree of Life and Transformers or Super 8.
-
Are you guys talking about wins? If so, I only predict Art Direction and maybe Visual Effects and Sound Editing.

Epic, man. :-)

My new BP predictions: 1. The Artist 2. Moneyball 3. The Descendants 4. War Horse 5. Midnight in Paris 6. The Help 7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II 8. Hugo 9. The Tree of Life 10. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo With the exception of a couple of moments, the editing is very good in DH2. In fact, it's pretty…

The film is cleaner on the official Blu-ray. Like, it's dark but you can notice all the little details. The film has terrific cinematography. From the camera angles to the color palettes, the work is superb.

Wow, the improvement of the shots is truly admirable.

Broadbent was exquisite in the 'Lily and the fish' sequence. A truly emotional scene and the score and subtle warm cinematography made it even better. Radcliffe's lines were kinda forced, I generally think that Radcliffe doesn't have many interesting moments in HBP. The Great Hall sequence was OK until Dumbledore's speech…

Wow. Looking at those stills makes me feel really proud of Eduardo Serra's exquisite work in DH2. The final color grading is truly impeccable. Artistic and jaw-dropping like HBP's but also natural and balanced (unlike HBP's which looked too artificial. Beautiful and Oscar-worthy, without a doubt, but too surreal).

Goblet of Fire Deathly Hallows Half-Blood Prince

Yes, I just watched the Fiendfyre sequence on Blu-Ray and I noticed how liquid the fire really was. Cool detail.
-
What did the artist get on those sites? It's currently at 87 on Metacritic as well. And at 91 on BFCA.

According to early reviews, War Horse is very divisive. I see it ending with around 85% tops. In the end, if DH2 does remain the best reviewed film of the year, that's another plus for WB and their campaign. So far they say 'one of the best reviewed films of the year' because the season has to end in late December in order…

:O Really, black? Damn. :/ The first half of the film was really good. Fun, charming and a beautiful tribute to the B/W silent cinema era. But the second half dragged. It felt like they were trying too much to make it something special. The story didn't have anything to say, except for the very obvious. It was…

I've seen 'The Artist'. It didn't live up to my expectations. And I thought that the Sound Mixing for Part 2 is nomination-worthy, at least. There were many showy moments, where the sound editors mixed the epic score with the tremendous sound effects.
-
God. Do you guys realize how stressing it must have been to finish such a CGI-heavy (along with the 3D conversion) film in 8 months? It's not easy to shoot new stuff, build sets and keep on working on new visual and sound effects. I'd love to see the film released now, in November, but they didn't have much time and the…

There are some weird news concerning WB's last Oscar-bait film, 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close'. As we know, Contagion has zero buzz and J.Edgar is a flop so the only film to get a BP nomination is Potter. But 'Extremely Loud...' is still unseen and it's been canceled from the screenings that will take place in the…
