Predictions for the rest of the films: Picture - The Artist Director - Hazanavicius, The Artist Actor - Jean Dujardin, The Artist Actress - Viola Davis, The Help Original Screenplay - Midnight in Paris Adapted Screenplay - The Descendants Original Score - The Artist Original Song - The Muppets BUT, I can totally see Hugo…

Bad (and predictable) choices so far, except for Best Foreign Language Film, 'A Separation' is a masterpiece and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo winning Best Film Editing, which was completely unexpected. I've actually started rooting for 'The Artist'. Hugo didn't deserve any of its wins. Don't get me wrong, I like the…

The Artist - 7.5/10 A very charming film paying homage to the silent era. Lovely performances by Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo. The Descendants - 2/10 Awful performances, awkward and arrogant screenplay, an underdeveloped ridiculous pile of crap. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - 2/10 A huge mess. Ridiculous subplots,…

Look at the BP lineup: The Artist The Descendants Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close The Help Hugo Midnight in Paris Moneyball The Tree of Life War Horse Fucking awful. I really like The Artist, Midnight in Paris and The Tree of Life and I'm fine with Moneyball and Hugo but the other four films are terrible. Especially War…

I only predict Art Direction and Makeup right now. Experts say that the film might not even be nominated for Visual Effects, after what happened during the visual effects bake-off. It's a shame, really. It's still a long shot for Best Sound Editing but I don't see it happening. Cinematography and Sound Mixing are so not…

The hate for other films sickens me. Have you seen The Artist? Because I have and its cinematography is average. Now, do you know which films should have been nominated for Best Cinematography? Wuthering Heights. The Turin Horse. Faust. Melancholia. And yes, over fucking Deathly Hallows. Then some of you bitch all the…

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has one of the best scores of the year. Exceptional use of disturbing atmospheric tracks that became an important part of the story and was cleverly used in the film. So, no. If you guys want to bash a nominated score, bash every other single nominated score this year. Hugo's score is very…

Some of you who claim that the editing and script of DH2 aren't good need to watch The Iron Lady right now. And guess what. That pile of shit is actually nominated for Best Screenplay. SwedishSkinJer, I know, right? The Artist's cinematography is very average. Do they nominate it just because it's B&W or something?
-
Seriously, how the hell did HBP get nominated for Best Cinematography? It was so random. Nobody expected that. If you look at the nominated films in this category, the Academy does love the fantasy-oriented films, while the BAFTAs prefer the darker, more austere-looking films, like this year's Drive, Dragon Tattoo and…
-
I still think that DH2 will be nominated for 5 Academy Awards (Art Direction, Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, Makeup). And since Drive is ineligible for Original Score and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is, thankfully, not the Academy's style, I guess that Desplat still has chances for that fifth slot. And the…

And f'cking Tree of Life has the best cinematography of the year and it's not even nominated? What the hell.
-
Actually it's not the only film they snubbed. Look at poor Dragon Tattoo. Only 2 BAFTA nominations. Seriously?
-
Ok guys. I burst out laughing when I saw the nominations. Only 4 BAFTA nominations. It's alright, I guess. No British Film nomination was shocking, IMO. The more I look at the nominees the more I think that the BAFTAs want to follow the Oscars. Few years ago they used to be more independent, awarding indie films,…

I think it'll get all of those, aside from Supporting Actor. Scratch That. http://static.bafta.org/files/longlist-1112-1256.pdf Competition isn't that tight... Yeah. Only Branagh and Plummer are locks, actually. Rickman could get the British support and get in. We'll see. I hope so... I'm not so sure about Supporting Actor…
-
First, let's see how many nods the film will get. I hope it gets British Film, Supporting Actor, Cinematography, Score, Visuals, Art Direction, Sound and Makeup. The Oscar nominations will be announced in less than 2 weeks so it's important that the BAFTAS create some nice buzz in these categories for the film.
-
Yes, Colombus started the series, but Cuaron redefined the series with his mature vision, Newell added more layers and Yates finished it with a bang. They all deserve credit.
-
I hope the Art Directors Branch has some taste and award Craig for his entire work in the series and the final Potter film. Hell, Alice in Wonderland, a trashy fantasy film, won Best Art Direction last year. Hugo has very good art direction, but Potter's is definitely better.
-
OK, I think that these wins pretty much confirm that DH2 will (at least) be nominated for 5 Academy Awards (Art Direction, Visual Effects, Makeup, Sound Editing & Sound Mixing). Don't worry, though.I have a feeling that we're going to win both Art Direction and Visual Effects. The reason? Stuart Craig is respected in the…

The nod for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy doesn't mean anything because the film is not accessible to the Academy. It's too emotionally distant and too cold and the film only has buzz for the BAFTAs because it's British. Also, there have been many times when the ASC nominated films that didn't get an Oscar nod. Which is why…

I don't know about a BP nod, but things are definitely looking good for Potter in the tech categories. I think that nods for Score, Art Direction, Visuals, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing and Makeup are going to happen. And the fact that War Horse is snubbed once again shows that they don't really like it so we might get a nod…
