My sister got the first book pretty much right when it was released and I, being five, didn't really think much of it (lol). I picked the books up late 1999, when I was seven-going-on-eight. I loved it straight away.

I agree, it would have made a good ending. But cutting it any later than they plan to do would probably, IMO, have left too little for part 2. It literally would have just been Gringotts and Hogwarts. Granted, the battle will be big, but they've only said about half an hour. That's still supposedly another two or so hours…
