@TheDoctor, did you watch The Legend of Tarzan? Regardless of what people think of the movie, Yates opted for a deliberate visual style there with lots of macro shots and ultra close ups mixed with stunning wide shots of the jungle, which was quite compelling to watch. I just wish he had made FB just as distinctive in its…

I would choose Jared Harris. He is Richard Harris' son.

I am surprised at the amount of people around different discussion boards who consider this Yates' best HP movie. Yates' cinematography choices were much more interesting in HBP, DH and even in The Legend of Tarzan. It's not bad, it's just... pretty standard. It might be due to him working with more talented…

The trailer feels familiar and fresh at the same time. Looks really fun! I love the NYC setting, the visual style and the production design. The tone feels more playful than the other Yates movies, although I still recognize his way of blocking scenes, particularly his tendency for slow tracking shots, and the spells look…

That's true. I suppose it was unrealistic to expect more clips than what we got at this point considering they are still shooting and can't show off CGI-heavy shots. Still it didn't really excite me the same way as the Tarzan trailer did, but there were of course interesting shots there as I've already pointed out. On…

Nice homage to POA in the beginning. What hat is the woman in the court room wearing though? Honestly my first impression is that it doesn't belong in this universe, but hopefully it will fit in better in the context of the scene. I do like the symmetrical wide shots however. Yates used particularly low-angle tracking…

He did nail that scene. As for intense and emotional scenes outdoors, I remember that he handled Dobby's death brilliantly. The subtle shaky cam was quite effective.

The last trailer was fantastic. My expectations are now sky-high.

Unless you described the trailer as a basket of sour cunts? I can't agree if that's the case.
-
Naturally, someone who loved them would see my comment as a basket of sour cunts. I get that and you're right that I had no intentions of hiding my dislike for the first two films. I did however say this one looks edgier based on the trailer. Naturally I want it to make sense as a trilogy, justify the three-part and work…

"The last move in a master plan" Jackson's master plan about how to turn the book into an epic mess of Middle Earth proportions? We'll see if the last chapter not only justifies sitting through two plodding chapters, but if it can make sense of its parts to form a coherent whole. This one looks a bit more edgy based on the…

I'm not against the idea of Kloves helping Rowling with the screenplay. I'm not his biggest fan, but keep in mind that she has zero experience with screenwriting. Kloves at least knows what doesn't work in a cinematic sense, for instance the scene at the astronomy tower in which Harry is immobilized under the invisibility…

The concept sounds a bit like Harry Potter meets Pokemon to me, but it could be darker than we think. I'm open for everything.

Yeah, they went a bit too far with the color grading in post-production. Same with that shot from Godzilla where I prefer the 3D version. HP 7 was also quite colourful when you got to the forest scenes.

I think he will make less use of dark filters this time around. I trust he is competent enough to know it wouldn't suit the story, which sounds far more lighthearted than the last four HP. I wonder if he will use the black smoke effect again despite the fact that there are no Death Eaters at that time. I am overall quite…

Yates is a safe choice. He is a competent director. Most of the problems with the latter films were related to the scripts. Sometimes Rowling made it difficult for the filmmakers too. For instance the story in HBP feels better suited for a book than a film, so I wouldn't blame Yates too much for the supposedly aimless…

I am curious about how long it should take to kill off Smaug in the film. We all basically know what will happen, so I hope it's dealt with in a short and sweet fashion which allows time to focus entirely on the battle of the five armies. It should certainly not be 50 % about Smaug attacking the city and 50 % about the…

I think it would be called Harry Potter and the Elder Wand. Basically remove the Deathly Hallows subplot and emphasize the all powerful wand. I think they could have included Harry's parents briefly in the limbo scene with Dumbledore in a way that would make Harry's choice to return to life harder. I would love to adapt…

These are good ideas, especially the one about the radio announcement. It would explain why they are constantly moving around rather than staying at one place when they have no idea where to go next. I also think they shot a scene with a couple of Death Eaters outside Grimmauld Place. It was in the first sneak peek.

I recently rewatched part 1 and 2. I stand by what I've always said; the decision to make three Hobbit movies was clearly a cash grab by the studio. They are certainly entertaining, but there is a lot of filler and scenes that needed brisker pacing. It kinda feels like a half-hearted attempt at recreating the success…
