aaronWell, the Harry Potter films never really deserved any nominations past Sound Editing and Mixing, Original Score, Visual Effects and Production Design. I would say maybe it deserved a BP nom for Deathly Hallows Part 2 out of respect for the entire series coupled with the 10-nominee-possibility, but it never materialized.
I would say the greatest achievement was the nomination of Half-Blood Prince for Best Cinematography, which was actually excellent and well-deserving.

Sir_CadoganAll of the ones made my members of this forum were complete garbage. Always got tired of the HPF circle jerk regarding those videos.

XDMorsmordreXDCould not agree more with that. That one Half-Blood Prince trailer ( "Big Beat Repeat") that made the movie seem like a romantic comedy was awful too. Even though the movie really did turn out the it was advertised in the trailer :\ (jk jk)

aaronThis one's great, but there's a different HBP one I like better.

That is what I call a masterful trailer. Actually, HBP had quite a stunning marketing campaign as far as the trailers went. The TV spots and Big Beat Repeat (and the posters) were shoddy, but these dark trailers were chilling. -
Lord StaffordNo need to joke around, Morse. These dark trailers (as Aaron quite rightly says are chilling) are what remind me of how disappointed I was with the final product. This film was billed as something it turned out not to be, and as much as I still love it (it's Harry Potter, how could I not?) I don't understand why many of the romance/comedy elements took over from what the book was: a very dark thriller. I can't hate it, but I just can't see it as being anywhere near as good as what some of the trailers made it out to be, and as some people make it out to be.
HBP could have been great and I'd even argue the best with the focus being on what these trailers show and focus on.

XDMorsmordreXDAaron, I have actually never seen that trailer before. It's incredible! I agree Staff. I was very much disappointed with the film. It's gorgeous artistically, but aside from that, I did not particularly care for it, due to the emphasis on the romantic/comedic elements. Looking back at these trailers, I probably would've been even more disappointed if I paid more attention to the trailer releases back then.
-
yonythemoonyThere's like 15, 20 minutes of comic/romantic scenes, most of them taken from the book. The rest was dark.
-
aaronEhh...Half-Blood Prince has its flaws but I'm not going to single it out for adaptational/tonal reasons because all the films were uneven in that respect. It's one of the best-made films of the series for sure.
