He said Ministre instead of Minister.

    Lord Stafford.

What? How are those pronounced differently? Isn't it like theater and theatre?

Well if you were to just say it how it is written... you would notice a clear difference... but it is hard to say it across a computer screen.

    Lord Stafford.

That's odd, I heard him say "Minister." I mean, does it really matter? I get your aggravation about "The Burrows" though, that really annoyed me. LOL.

I doesn't matter much, but still that's what he said, and yes the Burrow's was ridiculous... it infuriated me!

    Lord Stafford.

I hated it when Mad eye said the burrows also. I mean really. Though nothing will ever be as bad as Bellatrix saying abra cadabra. Yeah that will kill Sirius. I cannot believe they didn't reshoot that or at least reaudio that.

That's what I thought, too. Maybe that's just the way Mad-Eye speaks! David Yates wouldn't change the name when this is the last time we'll se the Burrow. :-S

You guys complain WAY to much. Be thankful they split the movie in two parts, otherwise you'll nit pick even more then ever.

You don't get this sh*t with LOTR fans. UGH.
  • js1138js1138 Posts: 143
Possibly because LOTR released four and five DVD sets of special editions. Some of the movies run over four hours.

And almost nothing happens. The whole plot line would fit in one of the smaller HP books.

If HP were written like LOTR, Harry would chicken out at the last minute and Voldemort would trip and impale himself on his own wand.

Theres no point in talking about LOTR's plot, Alex was just comparing the fans, and I agree with him.

CONS (because the PROS would take fucking forever)

Bellatrix attacking Snatchers-- very strange, left a weird taste in my mouth. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do with that. I know she's crazy but it was just so bizarre.
Voldemort and the Electrical Power Lines of Electricity-- poor power lines. We barely knew thee.
Dobby's burial-- too fast, music never got a chance to shine. Almost ruined the mood for me.
Nighy's 40-Second Closeup-- bad acting, camera lingered on this way too long. Very uncomfortable. Drew audience noises.
Nagini attack-- great, but too short, what was there was fantastic but I felt it could have been longer and scarier.
End credits-- seriously, fuck this movie for ending.

    PROS:
-cinematography - real, gritty, the way i always thought it should be.
-special effects - i thought they were excellent across the board, especially apparating with yaxley, the sky battle, nagini/bathilda. there was nothing like that horrible version of grawp in OotP.
    -r/h.
-h/hr friendship stuff. the dance - i loved it, it was canon. jo talked about the 'charged moments' - well this was the way they represented that. i loved 'o children' playing in the background and emma and dan's emotions were great. their dancing was funny too!
-i mean, the whole thing is a Pro for me. i really loved 99.9% of this film.
    CONS:
-weird harry moments that were just scripted or edited badly. after ron's return, after their arrival at shell cottage...just a few times where i was like "what?"
-sometimes it seemed too cut down. i wanted it to be longer and for the scenes to have more breath. i await the extended edition eagerly.
-hedwig's theme was not in it hardly at all...i had heard the soundtrack but didn't notice it upon viewing. i liked the score in general though.
    -wedding scene was too short.
-hedwig's death was...(sigh) stupid. she's a magical bird with cognizent abilities and a range of human emotions. if she is smart enough to find sirius in the tropics, she should know there was nothing to be gained from returning to the battle. she gave harry away in the movie and then got herself killed. her book death is better - it shows the randomness of violence in war and it is also another loss of innocence for harry.
    -dobby still wearing the pillowcase.
-wormtail's death - better be in Part II.

Another CON is that they never mentioned that rufus was a NEW minister...ppl who havent read the books would think that scrimgeour is taking the place of cornelius..I mean ACTORS,you know replaced.

i know it's not good enough, but to be fair to the filmmakers, they do show at the end of OotP that fudge is resigning...
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
oh yeah but they wouldve forgotten LOL
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User] Posts: 3,605 ✭✭
and one of the articles in the prophet harry is reading in the beggining of hbp speaks of a new minister
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
yes i know but they shouldve reminded the audience....ah watevs its not that huge of a deal.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
They did say he was the minister. Twice. That is enough.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Yes they did but they didntshow cornelius.....
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
I don't understand why they would.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
well,it would be cool to see cornelius.

Well a lot of things would be cool to see in the film that doesn't mean they should spend time showing them. That is certainly not somewhere that i would have wanted them to spend time.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
well they could spend time doing that than showing some pointless stuff.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
    What pointless stuff?
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
hermione seeing the snatchers, the dumbledore ghost, and other camping stuff.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
The Hermione seeing the snatchers was the only camping scene so there was no other camping stuff. The ghost was good. It gave a scream moment before they said they were alone. I think that part of the film was very well done.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
it wasnt necessary to have as much as other scenes.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
As showing the other minister. I don't think that was necessary.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
not really but a hogwarts scene was by all means.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
No. I don't think that would have worked showing the kids at Hogwarts. It could have worked showing Snape, but that would have been a different movie. I would have liked to see Snape let Voldemort in the gate at Hogwarts though. I also hope that is a deleted scene.
