I am 100 percent sure it´s not..and i have ALL possible reasons to prove that:
    1-You can tell it´s night
2- EVERYONE is wearing their robes
3-The house points counters have nothing in them...still empty
    4-ALL the professors are present
5- The table is filled with food
6- There is an empty space next to Ginny..Obviosly it´s Harry´s place and he still hasn´t arrived to the ceremony buecause he was jinxed by Draco
So that´s how i am 100 per cent sure that it´s the welcome ceremony

  • I agree with dobby83 I think it's right before Luna and Harry arrive.

oh yeah i think it's just hermione being hermione
but that pic is so a ron and hermione moment
and the ceremony is in the beginning - so why would they show hermione looking at ron all sad when she is supposed to be denying it?!

conclusions are being taken too early. I'll recomend you to wait about 90 days

  • taking a second look at that, i've gotta say, if looks could kill, Hermione would be mass murderer.

Indeed, I'd even go as far as to say that it looks like Ms Watson can actually act in this scene.

Nah, I'm kidding. She looks MUCH improved in HBP.

There both from the same night. It has to be the opening ceremony, all the teachers are eating with them, the hourglasses are empty, and Harry and Luna haven't arrived yet. Also the food is the same in both pictures.

    - in the slughorn picture, candles are off and there are a few chairs empty. really don't know if they are the same pictures..

    - "all the teachers are eating with them." yeah, so are every day.

    - the hourglasses are empty at slughorn's small picture. THAT's the opening ceremony, you know, dumbledore introducing slughorn and him saluting ...

    - "Harry hasn't arrived yet." Luna's a Ravenclaw. you can't tell she's in or out

    - "Also the food is the same in both pictures." lol. c'mon.. slughorn's pic's so tiny..

still think it's too early to make decisions..

But Harry´s a Gryffindor so you can obviously say that it´s Harry ! and about the hourglasses, if you see another angle of the scene in the trailer, you´ll see that the hourglass is still empty!

Well. I think it is a random day.
In the trailer Hermione is hitting Ron with the same book, and I guess that has something to do with the Lavender-thing...
And I don't think they started fighting the first day of term..
