    It was plain awful.

So anti-climactic!All these books we were trying to find out how Harry will defeat Lord Voldemort.
But, instead of a rather climactic showdown, we had to see a whole mystery about wands and nothing else.
    That's kind of annoying, actually.

Anyway, it was a rather enjoyable book with lots of intresting plotlines but the final part of the battle was a bit ew.

How else could it have ended?

It could've of ended with a funeral for all the people who died.

The ending is not awful, it is perfect.

And I just ignore the Epilogue.

Through all these books there were hints that Harry was having some hidden power, love.
I supposed that it would have to do something with that and not about the wandlore.
Honestly,it wasn't TERRIBLE as an idea but we could have had some hints or more feedback about the wandlore in the previous books.
I don't know.I loved DH as a whole but the duel between Voldemort and Harry was not good at all, in my opinion.

i agree with you blackvenom. The duel harry-voldemort wasn't impressive...it was very simple and it wasn't long...it was only a ''avanta kentabra'' and a death of voldemort...the 7 book was fantastic and this duel that was very important disappointed us...why?????????????...Voldemort was powerful...and harry wasn't so strong to defeat him only with love...no no no...i wanted to happen sth else...because it was the only plain awful moment...:-(.....................anyway the 7 book is my favourite of course...it's surely the best!!!:P:P:P

I'm not having a problem with the idea but with the fact that it was a totally new thing in the final book.
So it seemed to me that the ultimate destruction of Voldemort was not only the destruction of the Horcruxes but also the fact that Harry should have learnt and deciphered all about wandlore.
Not bad but just disappointing after all these years of anticipation.

    I like how he died!
It's was a Great end of the book! with the big fight at hogwarts, and then You-Know-Whos dead!

(If there is spell mistakes, is it because i come from Denmark ;))

It was let down to be honest. I would have preferred Voldemort to have realised that he was about to die and to actually have seen him scared or perhaps some remorse.

I know Harry is 'good' and everything but I would like to have seen the Killing Curse used on Voldemort for once.

Or perhaps Neville chops his head off with the sword.
  • I was expecting a real duel
  • I like it. I actually think it was fantastic!
But it was'nt as a thought it would be.
  • I think the reason so many people were let down on the ending was because JK just got tired of it. She admitted that she wanted to kill Harry, but it would disappoint many of her fans. Personally, I thought she randomly wrote down a final scene, took no effort into making it the FINALE, and just bombed it. She wanted the series to be over, and guess what? It went out with a big, sucky, bang. Killed by the spell he used on so many other people and defeated by a teenager...What a way to go. Brilliant JK, brilliant...

When you read it with a brain like that, its bound to be crap.
  • I think it ended the way it did because she didn't want harry to become a murderer. yeah, voldemort deserved it -and much worse too-but then what kind of message would that send? harry would just be stooping to voldemorts level.
  • The ending did suck. I would have wanted voldemort to be ripped from limb to limb for all the pain that he has caused me

that would've been very ignorant of them to do that.
obviously his biggest fear wasn't pain after what he put himself through, it was just death and the unknown.pain is predictable, death isn't.
