Just because Fantastic Four is undergoing constant reshoots does not mean that it will be a disaster. It’s all about trying different things out to make sure that you get it right. Besides, they may not necessarily use all that they have reshoot, for they could discover that things are fine the way that they are, or they could fine an even better way of doing things in the process. After all, I went through a similar process when doing a practicum project for an entire minor for my class and I ended up getting an overall mark of 96% for the class and many others as a result.
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search, Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017. The film will be directed by Jon Watts, director of "Cop Car," the upcoming thriller that made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.
Marvel and Sony Pictures, and producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal conducted an extensive search for both the actor and the director. The studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in "The Impossible," “Wolf Hall,” and the upcoming "In the Heart of the Sea," and by a series of complex screen tests. Following Marvel’s tradition of working with the brightest next wave of directors, Watts also went through multiple meetings with Feige, Pascal, and the studio, before winning the job.
Commenting on the announcement, Tom Rothman, Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group Chairman, said, “It’s a big day here at Sony. Kevin, Amy and their teams have done an incredible job. The Marvel process is very thorough, and that’s why their results are so outstanding. I’m confident Spider-Man will be no exception. I’ve worked with a number of up-and-coming directors who have gone on to be superstars and believe that Jon is just such an outstanding talent. For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start.”
Feige commented, “As with James Gunn, Joss Whedon, and the Russo brothers, we love finding new and exciting voices to bring these characters to life. We spent a lot of time with Jon and find his take and work inspiring.”
Pascal added, “Sony, Marvel, Kevin and I all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world. With Tom, we’ve found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Sony Pictures will finance and release worldwide the next installment of the $4 billion Spider-Man franchise on July 28, 2017, in a film co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the Web-Slinger.
Spider-Man, embraced all over the world, is the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures, with the five films having taken in more than $4 billion worldwide.
Please retweet and help support the cause for more movies i this series. Even if you do not care think of those that do. The books will STILL ALWAYS be the books regardless of how different they are.
#throwbackthursday 6 years ago this intriguing trailer brought me to the world of #PercyJackson: #WeNeedTitansCurse
And if you see it, it was just like in the book. Before Columbus screwed it up.
Not really it still followed the book fairly well if you think about it. Wasn't anymore unloyal than HBP which I thought was screwed way more than both PErcy movies
Nah, except for cutting the Gaunt memories, adding the Burrow scene, and having Harry hidden when Dumbledore dies, the rest of HBP is practically like the book (and makes scenes from references of the book, like the bridge collapse and Snape saying to Dumbledore that he didn't wanted to keep working for him).
The first Percy Jackson film followed the plotline of the book, but it was adapted like a single movie and not the first one of a franchise, changed the personality of the characters and several chapters were missing (and the book was the shortest, a 180 pages book could easily being adapted with nothing missing). They also got stuff from the second book adapted (like the Hydra and Tyson's shield)
The second one was actually faithful to the book, but the change of the chronological order in some events of the book, plus putting Kronos wasn't very helpful. It was like "we know we screwed it up with the first film, since the damage is done, we'll adapt the second book with putting stuff from the other books in case this one fails".
There's a reason of why The Fault In Our Stars and The Maze Runner were sucessful where as the rest of the YA adaptation made by Fox in the past 10 years failed. They respected the source material and adaped them with quality films. The Maze Runner looks like a 100 million dollar film and it was made with only 35. They got good actors instead of inexpresive pretty boys. The Fault In Our Stars had decent actors and a story which a lot of people can identify with.

If you look close enough they actually did stay fairly true to the main overall plot of the book in both movies . I mean in LT the only real major differences were the age and the replacement of the chimera with the hydra. In SoM a lot of what they left out like the stuff with blackboard, etc would have been too ridiculous and expensive to to put on screen. While they could be better they were actually very true to the core essence of the books of a young man growing up and dealign with hidden greek mythology and going on pretty much the same quests as the books. Them being older does not change the poignancy or character envelopment as we all need that same level of development no matter the age.
The problem is not that they cut stuff from the books, but the first film, looking at the first teaser, seemed to be faithful to the books, but it's not the same movie we got. Either because Columbus decided to rewrite parts of the film or Fox forced him to make the story more generic, and less unique like in the book. And what you say about the greek mythology is what was missing on the first film, having historic figures clashing with modern times and technology. Camp Half-Blood seemed like a military center from medieval times.
They fixed that with the second film, which it actually reflected the world of Riordan's books, but having Kronos as the main villain (and represented as a generic satan-like figure) when he wasn't supposed to be until the fourth book seemed like they thought making the film faithful to the book wouldn't be sucessful. About things from the books being too expensive to show, The Maze Runner had a 30 million budget, and looked like a 100 million dollar movie. Some CGI from SOM looked fake (and they were made by the same studio who did Life Of Pi() and they had a 90 million dolar budget.
Even if they did certain things right, Riordan is like the fans of the books, a pompous purist, and he bashed the first movie and said he wouldn't be watching the rest if they we're made.
The change of ages wasn't a problem because Columbus did it to avoid comparisions with Harry Potter.
