I think he will make less use of dark filters this time around. I trust he is competent enough to know it wouldn't suit the story, which sounds far more lighthearted than the last four HP. I wonder if he will use the black smoke effect again despite the fact that there are no Death Eaters at that time. I am overall quite curious to see how his vision here would be in comparison to his work on HP.
The black smoke was in HP4, it's basically a different way for wizards to Appear and Dissapear, it was even in the HP8 game where you can do it with Harry, Ron and Hermione. About dark filters, the Deathly Hallows cinematography was perfect but it was ruined because of the backup color correction (except in the 3D versions, because the 3D cinematography has to be brighter so people can see the film with their glasses).
WB did the same thing recently with the new Godzilla movie:
Also, HP5 had a very colourful look, though ruined with the blue filters. And HBP had a old fashioned film noir look.
I would like it to be dark, there are a few beasts that could be pretty scary if they were brought to life on screen. The Lethifold sound like it could be ominous, what creatures do people want to see in this.
I'd quite like to see Doxies they sound fun, Chimneras are pretty cool too and I would love to see Hippogriff's return.
I kinda agree, I would have preferred a new person sitting in the directors chair, but I mean - it is what it is. I'm sure Yates will be able to handle it, he did very well with the last few films.
I wonder if Jo will also use the ring composition theory in the plot line of the Fantastic Beasts trilogy like she did with the Harry Potter septology.

Elaborate on Ring Theory? This is the first time I've ever heard it put like that...
"If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an ideal... You become something else entirely- A Legend."
The events with each book paralleled 1-7 2-6 3-5 with 4 being the midpoint.
O_O crap it's true..never seen in this way,....shocked! For this new trilogy the worse thing they can do is to try to do better of the harry potter movies. I'm confident that Jo knows how to narrate a fresh story.
If it's taken her a whole year to write the first Fantastic Beasts screenplay, do you think she will want / will have enough time to write scripts 2 and 3? I'm a bit worried. When she appeared as Robert Galbraith in England this summer she did say that even though she was enjoying the process, she definitely preferred writing novels.
I think she will, there is usually an eight month deadline on a screenplay for the average film and she also has creative control. This is a big deal I am glad she is perfecting it. It would have been worse if she said she hated the process. She still has to learn the new medium and can't detail like in books or do as much internal monologue or intricacy as she usually has in her writing so she probably doesn't like the minimalism of it.
My daughter was reading a few places and then she thought it was a bit strange that the anagram could fit both ways...but you know JK, she likes to keep us on our toes.

Rowling confirmed that version of the anagram was wrong and only 'wishful thinking.'
.@troyentyler Yes, wishful thinking. 'Say details' isn't normal English usage and this is about Newt's adventure, 70 years before Harry's.
I just wish people would be happy for what we are getting an stop asking for Harry Potter Book 8 every time Rowling says she is working on a new project. I'm utterly excited for 'Fantastic Beasts' and I don't even think I'd like another book / movie from Harry's POV.

I was just passing on something my daughter said she saw as another interpretation...heck I hadn't even heard about the twitter stuff until I got off of work at 5-LOL. I don't think she could add anymore to Harry's story and it's cool that we can, in our own way, imagine what their lives were like after. I'm hoping that once the movie comes out she'll do a book to go along with the movie...but after so we can all be surprised as to where things are going but we'll have a reminder of the new chapter of the wizarding world.
JK Rowling gets almost 2000 retweets and favourites for a riddle and any information there after imagine what it will be like when we get casting news!
"The Studio will release three pictures, in 2016, 2018 and 2020, based on best-selling author J.K. Rowling’s original story and screenwriting debut, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” Set in an extension of her familiar wizarding world, featuring magical creatures and characters inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook and its fictitious author, Newt Scamander, “Fantastic Beasts” will be directed by David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter movies, and reunite the filmmaking team of David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram."
So should we assume that David Yates will direct all three of the films? Maybe negotiations are still ongoing for film 2 & 3 and that's why they are not being completely clear about it?
And I suppose Steve Kloves is helping Rowling with the script, right? It makes sense.

HP 7 was also quite colourful when you got to the forest scenes.
