The movie must be good if they are doing this, right? They wouldn't show a crappy movie and risk the word of mouth turning people off. Excited to see what the reactions will be like.
Fox will be giving away a free Maze Runner comic book to those lucky enough to get into the studio’s Friday Hall H panel. It was written by the director and screenwriter of the film, and is made in partnership with BOOM! studios.
Hopefully if the movie does well financially they might fund the short film. I think Wyck has talked about a web series about some of the characters' past in the Glade. Would be very cool to see
I'm scared that the movie will be really amazing in quality, but might not perform at the box office. And it would really help to get as much money for this as possible so Wes has a good amount of money to spend on visual effects because I'd love to see what he can do with a good budget.
I just don't understand the comparisons at all. So many people just assume that any YA adaption these days is automatically a rip off of The Hunger Games.
To be fair, they've been somewhat lax about promoting the film, especially waiting until just a month and a half beforehand to release the theatrical trailer. Hopefully they'll ramp up a more aggressive marketing machine as we enter the final stretch of time before release. Comic-Con was definitely a good tool to get some awareness out.
I think if Fox is so impressed by the film that they're aiming to shoot this fall and already have sequel plans, they have confidence that the film will perform well. If it's good enough, word of mouth will help quite a bit. I have no idea how big the budget is, but based on the fact that it's a YA film plus a new director, I'm guessing it can't be that big. Therefore, it will be easier for the film to make a profit, and as long as Fox makes a decent profit they'll move forward with the sequel. I have faith that the film will do well.
The lack of marketing is definitely worrying. They are taking too long to release a simple trailer. I wouldn't be surprised if the movie gets delayed again.

Woooow. I hate these vine things though because I want to leave every bit of footage for when the full trailer is released but they're just too hard to ignore

... The next trailer is out in 3 days.
You don't say?
They are releasing an official trailer (for me the first was a teaser) less than two months from the opening day and you call that good marketing?

Here's a sneak peak:
Although, a lot of them were surprised by the quality of the clips they showed. Mostly a griever chase scene.

Those sound effects are great. The guttural griever noise.
