Space Jam 2 is Happening LeBron James taking over in the sequel to the Michael Jordan film.
This weekend is the date of the Viking apocalypse, Ragnarok. I only mention that as an aside as we discuss the fact that Space Jam 2 is happening.
Deadline reported the news, revealing that Warner Bros. is partnering with brother duo Charlie and Willie Ebersol on Space Jam 2, as a starring vehicle for the Miami Heat's LeBron James - and Bugs Bunny, of course. Charlie will produce Space Jam 2, with Willie writing. The movie's in the early stages, so James will have plenty of time to heal from that broken nose he just received.
This is the first major film deal for Charlie Ebersol, who previously has produced unscripted TV and the acclaimed documentary Ithuteng: Never Stop Learning. While James will be at the center of the film, it's expected that, like in the original Michael Jordan Space Jam, other NBA stars will also appear.
Space Jam was a hit in 1996, earning $230M worldwide. Still, 18 years is a very long time to make a sequel. As Deadline notes, it's especially amusing that Warner Bros. also announced a release date today for The LEGO Movie 2, which opened two weeks ago.
Holy shit, this looks terrible. Mainly because the adult actors are so unimpressive. But Quevenzhane is just so irresistibly cute and is stealing scenes from the adults like the princess she is, so I'll watch it for her. Somebody better GIF the shit out of Nazie's scenes when it comes out.
Do note that Rupert is only attached to the film (a retelling of Shakespeare's Macbeth), and pre-production hasn't begun yet (which is what the Kickstarter funding page is for).
Look away now! 'The Giver' trailer with Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges and *shudder* Taylor Swift as The Giver's daughter.
So disappointed. It looks like a generic YA film in line with Divergent and The Host. But the book is better than those 2 combined. They didn't even film/make it look black and white T_T And didn't the book gave the boy, the future giver, sorry it's been a while, blond or a different colored hair and maybe blue eyes (based on the Gathering Blue book)? What do you guys think about the trailer and over-all movie world of 'The Giver'?

The trailer is... Strange, to say the least. It didn't sold out well the movie for me, but it really gave a creepy vibe in the end, which I can say it's a good thing, at least.
Besides, it's a YA property that Jeff Bridges looked to take off the ground for quite some time, so he must have some good respect for the material. And, most of all... It has Meryl Streep. Nuff said.

the actor auditioned for Four before Theo James got the role
This movie is moving forward quickly! Just last May, we reported that Rick Yancey’s new Young Adult novel, chalked full of aliens, was optioned by Toby Macguire through Sony Pictures Studio. Then in August, an Oscar nominated screenplay writer, Susannah Grant, was selected to adapt the book for the big screen. Grant wrote Erin Brockovich and also adapted Charlotte’s Webb.
Just today, Rick Yancey sat down with USA Today to talk about the cover reveal for The Infinite Sea, and talked briefly about The 5th Wave’s journey to the big screen. In the article, Yancey mentions that the film has a blinking green light. As seasoned book-to-movie reporters, we know this is a good thing.
J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed) has signed on to direct the movie, and we know for sure that the two leads have been cast. Casting will be revealed in the next couple of weeks, things are probably on the down low due to scheduling conflicts. I’m so pumped to find out who will be playing Cassie and Evan on the screen! Yancey also stated that he hasn’t read the script yet becasue he is waiting or a “version that won’t make him cry,” but mentions that the two leads and everyone else is crazy about the script.
I have the book in my shelf and I haven't read it yet 'cause I was saving it for my summer break
I heard they will make an Jem and the Holograms live action movie !! That was probably one of my fav cartoons when i was a little girl (some many many years now lol) i don't know what to think

I pretty much agree with your insights.
If it were a completely original stand alone film, I would still think it looks like utter shit trying to appeal to those who are drawn to material like Divergent but it could possibly have potential for what it is.
As an adaptation of the classic novel, there's so much wrong with it there are simply no words to describe it. I appreciate the filmmakers' personal vision of the universe, and it is true that adaptations are not meant to be point by point illustrations of their source material, however this film looks like a complete butcher job of Lowry's brilliant work. It's hardly even remotely recognisable. The least they could have done was make it beautifully black and white. Contrary to what Hollywood may think, black and white cinematography does not necessarily equal boring, but I suppose they actually believe it wouldn't appeal to a younger audience.
Anyhow, I wouldn't expect an amazing adaptation of this novel to begin with. Any film based on this novel would have to set extremely high standards. The vision of this novel is so unique it's practically unachievable.
