Overall, very satisfactory night! I always love the Globes because the double categories allow for a lot more justice in the nominations and awards. Pleasantly surprised at Alfonso getting Best Director, Amy Poehler winning Best Actress in a Comedy Series, and Leonardo DiCaprio winning for Best Actor in a Comedy Film (finally! Shame it won't happen at the Oscars, though.) The only disappointment of the night would be Aaron Paul didn't get his GG for Supporting Actor.

Bryan Cranston and BB's wins were so worth it though!

DiCaprio won a Globe for The Aviator.

Perfect! He gave a great performance. Still under-decorated if you ask me. I thought his performance in Django was phenomenal.

This is...actually a pretty good haul this year. Predictable, no huge upsets. The only things I'm unhappy with are the outrageous snub of Tom Hanks for Captain Phillips (but it was naturally going to be an upsetting category, given the amount of worthy nominees) and no Best Documentary nomination for Blackfish.

But other than that, I'm pretty satisfied with these noms.

I've seen everything in the main 5 categories (picture and acting). I have to say, even though there are some snubs (Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson, and to an extent, Forrest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey), everyone nominated is definitely deserving of their nominations. So I don't feel as bad about the snubs, especially when Tom and Emma both already have Oscars.

Best Actor will be either Matthew or Leo (could go either way), Best Actress will be Cate, but Amy could surprise us (and by God, I hope she does), Supporting Actor is a shoe in for Jared I feel like, and Supporting Actress is going to be Jennifer, even though Lupita should probably get it (like last year with Jennifer beating out Emmanuelle Riva).

Picture will either be 12 Years a Slave or American Hustle. Gravity will be Best Director, but it could come from behind and get picture.

@aaron I am completely with you on Blackfish not being nominated. This film is very revealing. I was so looking forward to seeing it up there along with Life According to Sam, which was shortlisted but not nominated. I really have to agree with you on that. It's the only movie of the year that really mastered ALL parts of a movie. 12 years had the emotion, American Hustle had the acting, Her had the screenplay. Gravity had all those things PLUS all the technicals the other movies didn't have.

As far as screenplays go, Gravity's was pretty basic, but I still adored it.

Yoo kids, cmon, loosen up that hype a bit. Gravity has a basic, really basic screenplay, it barely has any description of the action scenes. Truth be told, it is pure craft, a director's movie through and through, and the epitome of technical achievements. But 12 Years a Slave feels like the real deal: filled with raw emotion, spectacular performances, great directing (if not for Cuarón, McQueen would take this Oscar for Best Director easily), and an excellent script. Honestly, it feels like the deserved Best Picture winner, even with the epicness of Gravity.

But at the same time, I wouldn't be the least bothered to see Gravity take the top prize, as long as it isn't American Hustle (which I dearly loved, but it isn't in the level of those two).

I haven't seen 12 years yet but it has an uphill climb with me since I hate slavery pieces and love space... But it does have Fassbender and Hans Zimmer so bring it on.

I'm not a fan either, but 12 Years is more of a survival piece than a slavery one, so I'd recommend you give it a shot. Besides, Fassbender is fantastic in his role (even if he is outshone by fellow actors Ejiofor and Nyong'o), and Hans Zimmer shows why, when out of the usual BRAAAMMs, he can always craft a great score (even if it relies a bit too much on his track "Time", from Inception).

Yeah I felt like the score was a lot of Inception rehash.

Gravity, Sandra Bullock, and Alfonso Cuaron better win!

And if "Let It Go" from Frozen is beat out by U2's song, I'll be PISSED! Also, Idina Menzel is singing "Let It Go" at the show. I am looking forward to that so much!
