I feel as if I am the only person in the whole world that didn't like it. It bored me.
It depends where you are! In my case, I feel as if I´m the only person in the world that liked it!! hahahaha opinions from people I´ve talked to are mixed to negative.
Where I live everyone is all over it. Including me. It's a stunning, amazing, creative, innovative, out-of-this-world experience and pretty much everyone I've talked to agrees.
There's a part of me that can really see this winning best picture. And there's a part of me that can see the Academy saying "screw it" and give it a nomination for visuals, like Prometheus.
We'll see, but in my opinion, this movie deserves a lot of awards.
I actually think this is a pretty awful movie. The CGI isn't convincing and the story falls flat. The themes are also completely on the nose and heavy handed and I can't help but laugh at how simplistic they are. Dr. Ryan Stone needs a wake up call and a rebirth, so lets show her floating in the fetal position while the pod door borders her. It's a womb! Don't you get it! Also, Bullock continues to remain one of the worst actors in the industry, so I can't get behind her cahracter's story.
The 3D was good, though.

So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
The movie is amazing! 11/10! Best movie evar! Now people care.

Lubezki is well overdue for an Oscar, well overdue. Also, does anyone think that this film has a strong chance to win Best Original Score? I personally think due to the fact that the music is not only there to support the film, but to support the sound of it too, it stands a very good chance.
I really admire the way the soundtrack worked here, indeed. Wether the academy wil think the same I'm not sure... Specially with frozen being around. Havent watched it yet...but from what I've heard,it is really something
And I agree, it has a great chance for score. The last song on the soundtrack gives me the soul of a native tribal lady as her people rise from the burning forests.
Finally saw it. 9.7/10 Review in Movie Review thread.
Also, I have a question. The ice that was showing on the window of one of the pods at one point in the movie. It reminded me of the way the ice appeared on the windows of the Hogwarts Express in Prisoner of Azkaban. Is this a coincidence, or is it something Alfonso has done in a lot of his movies?

Btw, here's a short film that Alfonso also shot to tie in with the film. It shows the other side of the radio call.
Hope you like it!

The scene with Ryan talking on the radio is pure screenplay writing at it's best.
