I love that they're showing the break-in scene. I think it will add a good action scene in the movie to break up the relatively slow first half of the book.

Really? I can't seem to manager spoiler tags on my phone but there's another cliffhanger where I can see it ending, and it's also after a sequence which would be a good climax to the film. I don't know how to describe it without spoiling it, but she sees something happen to her on screen.

Maybe they could make an ending ala Catching Fire. Have the great climax of the film being Peeta's rescue. Show him trying to kill Katniss, and then they should show her waking up, and Plutarch and Beetee explaining Katniss what happened to Peeta. Then, the final shot could be Peeta and screen goes black.
I would rather it to end just after shes excited to see him and go to hug him and he just attack her(by stabbing her or something I dont remember exactly how the scene goes) and cut to black. People just gonna be like WTF!
I dont like that ending...it seems awful...almost series-like cliffhanger. It's not an episode of one HBO series, it's the first part our epic finale cmon! The ending has to set the awful things to come. Not just leave you like wtf! Think of TTT finale...or even DH2. And as theres no scene for.me that would make this justice, I would go for and aded scene..they've done pretty well on them...so this is their chance to prove it once more.
What it worries me the most is that they're filming the films back-to-back. The scripts of Mockingjay have determined the ending of the first part, and the beginning of part 2. But given that Francis wasn't sure yet of where to split Mockingjay, maybe they'll change the split point of both films in a different place. And that could bring the same problem that ruined Deathly Hallows.

Well that would definitely leave people pissed. I don't know if they should leave it a complete cliffhanger. I'm going to read the books again soon-i can't decide where i think the best place to end part 1 would be.
"The sun persists in rising so I make myself stand."
I don't think that is a good ending for Part 1. I for one am not an advocate of cliffhanger endings. I prefer full story arcs and closure, and that's why I liked Part 1 of Deathly Hallows because it had a small cliffhanger but still wrapped up the on-the-road and locket storyline.
Ending it with the Peeta/Katniss confrontation is just cheap. The audience will be confused because they won't find out until the next film what is wrong with him. They'll think he's turned evil or something, it will cause widespread confusion. People won't like it because they won't understand that he's been poisoned, unless they show that visually somehow. And even then, it's hardly ending material. What will serve as the actual climax?
That's why, like I said, they should have the big climax with Peeta's rescue, and then show him trying to kill Katniss, and when she wakes up, to know what happened to him. It could work like Catching Fire's ending (big climax with the destruction of the arena, then Katniss knowing that District 12 has gone to leave you in shock). People would leave knowing that Peeta might be a danger for Katniss in the next film.
On Wednesday, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay began filming on the grounds of Caldwell Tanks in Newnan, GA.
The crew has spent several weeks building a coliseum set in one of the manufacturing buildings and rumor has it the scenes they are filming involve Katniss and Finnick’s confession in District 12.
Last night filming also took place in Castleberry, Atlanta as well.
Next week Mockingjay is expected to go on break for the holidays but will return to Georgia in January to continue shooting.

I've got the links for the Bluray special feature of the first film (Disc 2 with the features, and the third disc with the video diaries, casting and stories from the tributes). If anyone is interested, PM me.
I finally saw it and wow. I seriously cannot believe how good it was, so consider my faith in this franchise revived. I was skeptical going in, because everyone had acted like the Hunger Games was the best thing ever, but this was so much better in every way. They did such a good job building up the spirit of the revolution while still focusing on what this meant for Katniss, not just the world at large (DH1 didn't do this kind of thing very effectively in regards to the world at large). I was super impressed with how they adapted the first half of Catching Fire into a streamlined, emotionally charged story that led nicely into a games that felt so different than the first one.
Obviously visually everything was much better. Also, the games were so much more intense. The characters were all pretty well developed, and so was the world. Once again, the state of the increasingly restless districts in contrast to the Capitol was very well established. Just. Everything was so good.
Like, THG was a pretty basic, unambitious (yet solid) adaption of the first book, but this one hit all the points in the book while using the visual aid of a film to bring some of the more thematic elements to life more effectively. They fixed some of the book's pacing issues too, IMO.
There are four sides of this: I actually prefer MOVIE Katniss over the one in the book, who I nowadays consider very irritating in some moments (Catching Fire onwards, mostly). Book Tris I found to be more tolerable of a character, even if she compensated by sugarcoating the romance she had with Four. And now, there will be Movie Tris, which may be another variable in this story.
And no, Neil Burger is a competent director, but what he talks about is not true at all, at least for me. Divergent trilogy will need a lot more work, to get on the level of Hunger Games, which, even with it's flaws (Mockingjay plot holes and contrivances included), still feels like a more developed piece of work.
Quaalude fight: because drunk fight is too mainstream.

Peeta's first sight of the monkey is one of my new favorite jump scenes in a movie. Ties with Nagini in Godric's Hollow in DH1.
It's apparently Jen that is dangling from the wires.
