That's not true, because King Kong won everything on technical nominations, and Stanley Tucci was nominated even though The Lovely Bones was a failure with critics and box office (and personally, I think that Saoirse deserved the nomination better).
Guys, The Hobbit was barely nominated because, with all due respect to those who liked it, was "meh", leagues away from TLoR, at least for me, and I've seen a fair share of it's haters, not to mention the critics didn't like it. King Kong at least had the paired "good critical reception + box-office success".
Besides, it is still early to judge. Like it or not, in the main categories Catching Fire won't get a nomination, not because it was snubbed, but because it has stronger competition. You guys seriously need to analyze the nominees, before bashing on the Academy for "snubbing this or that". But hey, in the technical categories, it could still get nominations, mainly for Makeup and Sound Department.
Quaalude fight: because drunk fight is too mainstream.

I totally agree with this. The Academy may have a thing against franchises, but honestly, the stuff that does get nominated (usually) definitely deserves it.
I think maybe it'll probably get a nomination in Best Score, seeing as it's one of the best I've heard this year, and the Academy have a lot of respect for JNH's work.
I'm not as worried with Mockingjay as I was before.
Francis Lawrence fucking exceeded my wildest expectations. I thought he was a decent hire, nothing exciting, but damn everything about Catching Fire was at least pretty good, some things could've definitely been better, but it was all around quality.
I'm still concerned about the pacing and general plot because Mockingjay was definitely worse than the other 2 books, but not as concerned as I once was.
Not really. There's only 716 days until Mockingjay Part 2. And in 29 days we'll be saying that it's out next year. That honestly isn't a lot of time when you really think about it.

I can just imagine producers and makers of this case... "You know 'Includes over 130 minutes' sounds a lot better than 'Over 2 hours!' when other DVDS have 3 or 4 or more hours!" )
the shaky cam makes me nauseaous so ill wait for blu Ray. believe me with all the awesome things im hearing about it I want to see it but throwing up in a movie theatre does not appeal to me.

So if theres a Divergent sneak peek it must come out before the 21 march I hope the blu ray version does like TDKR when watching on tv the scenes filmed on IMAX will get bigger
It's been almost two weeks since the film came out, and they already announced the Blu-ray features? Wow. Too bad they didn't waited and decided to include a small peak to Mockingjay like WB did with Deathly Hallows.
Also, I'm glad we won't wait nine months for the Bluray, like in the first one
Used Catching Fire as a reference in my Film History paper on culturally defining movies about overcoming the odds and how stories are structured. I just love it so much
I would say roughly 99.9 percent of everyone on the forum is pursuing a film career of some sort weather it be director, screenwriter or some other entity of the film industry.
im FINALLY going to see it for the 1st time this weekend but first im going to rewatch the first one as I totally have forgotten about the plot and want to refresh my memory.
Okay, how many people here on the forum are looking to pursue film career/are doing film school right now?
Quite a few. I'm just taking Film History as my last non-art studio elective. It was either that or fundamentals of acting and I aint gotz no time fo that. lol

I shouldn't be happy about this. So it is probably a good thing I am not.
Harry Potter over Hunger Games any day.

I mean, it's box-office, the most useless topic to use to create a franchise war. xD
