A The Walking Dead spin off is in development, AMC announced this morning.
Set for a premiere in 2015, The Walking Dead spin off will use its existing creative team but will follow an entirely new set of characters and locations. “Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer,” said Charlie Collier, AMC’s president and general manager. “We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.” “After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe,” said comic creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman. “The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.” The news of a Walking Dead spin off comes on the heels of AMC’s announcing a Breaking Badspin off following Saul Goodman last Wednesday. While we do like the idea of an entirely new zombie story line set in a world even Kirkman hasn’t dreamed up yet, we’re cautious about how AMC is proceeding with the future of their programming line up. Breaking Bad and Mad Men are ending, and the network has yet to come out with a new show to replace them. Rather than going for something entirely new, they’re falling back on the hits. Meanwhile, The Walking Dead season 4 will premiere Sunday, October 13 on AMC
Walking Dead,s Season Premiere Shattered the Season 3 finale with an astounding 16.5 million viewers and it also beat out Sunday night football Very impressive #walkingdeadswag
New York – October 29, 2013 – AMC announced today that it has renewed The Walking Dead for a fifth season. The number one show on television among adults 18-49, The Walking Dead returned for a fourth season earlier this month and the premiere episode set a new record for the series, delivering 20.2 million viewers, live+3, and 13.2 million adults 18-49, a new record for any non-sports cable telecast.
“We are very happy to make what has to be one of the most anti-climactic renewal announcements ever: The Walking Dead is renewed for a fifth season,” said Charlie Collier, AMC president. “This is a show that has erased traditional distinctions between cable and broadcast. Its expanding base of passionate fans has grown every season, most recently – and most notably – with the season four premiere earlier this month, which broke viewership records for the series and became the biggest non-sports telecast in cable history. On behalf of the incredible team on both sides of the camera, thank you to the fans and here’s to more Dead.”
For season five, Scott Gimple will return as the series’ showrunner along with executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Tom Luse. AMC also recently announced that it is developing a companion series to The Walking Dead, based on a new story and new characters from Robert Kirkman.
im a bit dissapointed that the big threat they were talking about all summer is only a sickness. Till now I find the show slow...a lot of talking and like 2 min of action
so if tonight,s episode is as boring as the first 5 episodes I very well may have to just walk away from this show as im really loosing intrest. so here,s hoping tonight,s episode turns things around but im not holding out much hope.
Fifth episode tonight. And last week's was actually quite good. Hopefully the second half will be better. I bet the governor will be back tonight, there's only four episodes left in the first half of s4
just when I was about to loose hope Walking Dead has pulled me back in and delivered an action packed episode that left my jaw on the ground as The Governor is getting ready to make his grand reappearance Shit is about to hit the fan.
So The governor came back this week and it seems the Showrunners are trying to Redeem the Character of The governor by making him look sympathetic and misunderstood. im sorry but he cannot be redeemed and needs to die. I Didn,t really like this Episode as it just seemed really too slow paced and there just wan,t too much going on. I found myself really bored watching it. Lets hope next week,s episode is better but given how disjointed this season has been with a few really bad and boring episodes followed by some good ones its anyone,ms guess but im not holding out much hope for an improvement. Grade D.
Mid Season Finale Tonight but it seems to be just a rehash of the season finale from last year The governor is going to Attack The prison again YAWN. definitely not excited about this episode at all.
