Evanna Lynch has said she would jump at the chance of a part in the new JK Rowling film adaptation, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.
The actress played Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films and when she found out the book which has a link to her character was going into development at Warner Bros, was keen to sign up again.
She said: "When the news broke that was the first that I heard of it and I had a bit of a freak out on Twitter. I actually tweeted at Warner Bros, 'Please put me in the movie!' They were like, 'Sounds good.' I don't know what that means."
Evanna said she doubted Luna would make an appearance: "I don't think Luna will be in it, because it's set 70 years before and with the time it took us 10 years to make Harry's span at Hogwarts, 70 years of a time lapse between this guy's life and when Harry's born, I think I'll be too old. I think I'll be an old woman by the time I get round to it."
But she said she was open to playing any part in the film, even if it wasn't Luna.
"Someone did say on Twitter, they said, 'You could do the story from the point of view of Luna relating the story to her children about your great grandfather 70 years ago,' which I would be totally down for.
"But I'm also down for playing a fantastic beast, I think that would be quite fun."
That'd be cool if maybe at the very end of the film(s) there was a flash forward to Rolf and Luna exploring in the wilderness maybe using Newt's notes as a guide or something. That's something I would actually like.
This is translated from an interview in Portuguese:
“I really wanted to create a total villain. But I can't say that I was involved in the role too much, because this is not my method of working. I work in accordance with the material's requirements. Make no mistake: Harry Potter is not Shakespeare, it is entertainment. When you read a (Potter) script and then you compare it against The Tempest by Shakespeare, the difference is very large. Anyway ... (Laughs)
To what extent are you influenced or based on the story of JK Rowling? Fiennes - I'll be honest. I'm not a fan of Harry Potter. I never could read a book in the Harry Potter series. I can not, I'm unable to. I do not have much leisure time, and I need to study the scripts that really work.”
@fhaps Thanks for posting. I might've missed this interview when it first came out.
As for Fiennes, he's a fine talent in all other things but I never cared for his portrayal of Voldemort. This comment makes a little more sense now. (Although, it's rather unfair on his part that he even compared Harry Potter to Shakespeare. Of course they're different - written by two very separate minds with different levels in skill.)
Also, we have to keep in mind that for the majority of the older cast, Harry Potter didn't mean as much for them as it did the younger cast.
Well, that was in 2011. I think that Fiennes was talking more about the scripts (which be honest, they aren't so great) than the story itself. And he was just finishing Coriolanus and other films.
Given Ralph's latest interview, seems that maybe he has read the books and understood better the story and message of them, which is why he's interested.
It's also true about how some older actors didn't cared about the saga, but most of them we're just for 5 minutes on each films, and some of them complained about how the studios we're doing it (like John Hurt complaining about WB wasting money on stuff they weren't going to do), but there we're some who loved it (Maggie Smith decided to act in the last films even when she was dealing with a breast cancer, Jason Isaacs begged to Rowling to give Lucius more scenes).
Well....c'mon guys we all LOVE Rowling but pretending she's Shakespeare is a joke.
Also it's a translation there might be some mistakes. Regardless, he's not saying anything bad about it. He said its not Shakespeare and he's a big Shakespeare guy, that's not an insult.
If he didn't think it wasn't worth it, why would he do 4 films knowing a fuckload of people will end up typing him with Voldemort a bit?

Jason Isaacs is probably my favorite adult from the entire franchise, he's such a cool and nice guy.
Not to knock on Shakespeare or anything but............ I find Harry's story more interesting than any of his. Even Hamlet. I bet if he had to write a 7 part fantasy series it would be boring... And probably be borrowed B-)
"If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an ideal... You become something else entirely- A Legend."
Writing can be bad and good and it can be good and bad.
War and Peace is a masterpiece, Moby Dick is a masterpiece... Neither have the record breaking, hotly anticipated, emotional swagger of Deathly Hallows.
"If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an ideal... You become something else entirely- A Legend."
I know I'll catch flak from some of you literary purists who ooze over the classics but I find writing to be read differently almost by every individual, and the way the 'classics' get held on a holy shelf bemoans my weary heart.
I think Rowling is one of the best who's ever lived at pulling off mystery within a fantasy setting. Somebody name one better?

I'm sorry but I do believe that's bashing. I do not think that everyone is supposed to like Harry Potter, but you don't have to say it like that. He was mocking. He basically said that Harry Potter was not really worth his time.
Because of that, I have no respect for Fiennes. If he doesn't believe in the material, why is he doing it to begin with? For the money? I find it sad that someone with his career still does films simply based on the money he'd get, even if he doesn't like the script.
And finally, I find the "Harry Potter is no Shakespeare" line extremely condescending. To Rowling and to the fans. I mean, who's even comparing it? It's so snobbish.

Well, for one, Harry Potter is no Shakespeare. Ralph Fiennes is a classically trained theatre and Shakespearean actor, so he is at perfect liberty to judge that. Two, he is only judging in comparing the two; he isn't saying that Harry Potter isn't worth his time. If it wasn't, he wouldn't have performed in four of the films, even for the money.
This year there an class about HP at Sciences Po who is one of our biggest Universy in France, titled " "Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, Literary, psychoanalytical and political approach"

You make some good points.
We all love Rowling no doubt, but I feel she has a lot yet to learn as a writer still, even within her works outside of Harry Potter. There are some writers I would probably hold up higher than her, such as some of Stephen King's works. But that's not to say any writer or individual work is superior to another. To each their own, we all have separate interpretations of literature and their levels in skill.
I guess I should have made it clearer that I was building JK up on her entertainment value, not necessarily Literary... Nobody in here would claim that Harry Potter is a better literary work than something like Anna Karenina. Pure entertainment of the soul, which is different for different people, I would classify JK Rowling as one of the Greats who will be revered in years to come.
That's not to say Moby Dick isn't entertaining but I personally have read many works and am completely, unequivocally impressed with Jo's mystery. Each Potter novel serves as its own amazing piece of mystery.
PS- Quirrell instead of Snape? CoS - Tom Riddle is Voldy and he has Ginny?? Hermione's cryptic note?! PoA - Time Turner??? Sirius? PETER WAS THE RAT??? GoF- Barty Crouch fuckin jr OotP - Prophecy and Dumbledore/ Dept of Mysteries
HBP - HBP lol And Dumbledore's secret 'lessons' were AMAZING
DH - shitstorm of reveals and whatnot
Specifically fantasy/mystery I would give her the nod.
"If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an ideal... You become something else entirely- A Legend."
Actually looking back Goblet of Fire was beautiful In that regard. The whole buildup of clues leading to Voldemort's return and Winky's confession alongside crouch jr was awesome... Awesome.

No man I totally agree, I would NEVER read Shakespeare over Harry Potter, Potter is infinitely more entertaining to me and not a snore like most of Shakespeare. The only thing I've ever enjoyed from Shakespeare is Julius Caesar, but everything else I've read from him has been a snore fest.
BUT to some big literary guy like Finnes who's studied Shakespeare, cmon, him saying Harry Potter scripts are not Shakespeare is not an insult. I'm pretty sure he'd say that about ANY movie he does - it's entertainment.
I love HP films more than ANYTHING - really I do - but him saying Potter films are entertainment and not literary masterpieces like his beloved shakespeare is not an insult. At least to me it isn't.
AND ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT isn't him showing the SLIGHTEST interest in directing, even if its just an interview "oh yeah id love to work on that that'd be cool" casual thing that will probably not even happen, show that he enjoyed Potter? Why would he even pretend to be interested in working if he hated or meant to insult potter?
I think it's more about how he went out of his way to say they "aren't Shakespeare". Like someone said earlier, who's comparing them?
Exactly. That's my point. One thing would be if I were having a conversation with Fiennes and I said "You know, Harry Potter is better than anything Shakespeare," and then he went on to say "Oh, make no mistake: Harry Potter is not Shakespeare." Then that's understandable and respectable.
But saying that when they were only discussing the amount of preparation he put into his character... there's no need.
Anyway, at the end we'll all have our own opinions. And as I said before, this is part of the reason I don't like Fiennes. Besides the fact that I was never completely sold on his Voldemort. All the scenes I had trouble with in DH, he was part of them. But of course that's a completely different discussion.
Rupert Grint comments on "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" movie
While promoting his new film CBGB, Rupert Grint was inevitably asked about the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie, and how he, as Ron Weasley, probably won't be taking part in a film that would take place 70 years before his and Harry Potter's time.
“I don’t know how it would work, to be honest,” Grint said of the slated film. “I think I kind of closed the door on that now. As much as I loved it and it was a huge part of my life, I think it ended at the right time. But, yeah, I’m happy to just watch that one.”
Personally, I do not want a cameos. That shit would get real cheesy real fast. Dumbledore as a younger actor would be maybe okay but no trio. no no no.
I think JK's world and all of its characters are strong enough to stand alone on their own merits... Cameo talks are just press questions used to get article views. There will be no connection to the events of 1991-1997
"If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an ideal... You become something else entirely- A Legend."
First..thanks XD....about thestrals and dragons banner...I had already thought on it. I want to create posters or banner like character but with "fantastic beasts". The Harry's banner can be considered as teaser banner in terms of my fan advertising campaign.
Ps. the fan trailer is 60% finish. The track used are: 1) Aniruddh Immaneni - The Awakening (Epic Cinematic Powerful) 2) Mark Petrie - Kara Kul (Genesis album)
and may be -> Iron Man 3 - Trailer #2 Music #1 (The Hit House - Basalt)
no deadline? well doesn,t that mean she could take like years and years to finish it?
in my opinion the first film will come out on 2016, but if it comes after I'm happy, because we need a powerful story. J.K Rowling have to create an expanded world!

The Voldemort from the books was far, far more sinister than the movie portrayal.
After finishing The Cuckoo's Calling my anticipation has only grown for these movies
But wouldn't it be better to do these posters with Thestrals and Dragons and...
Nah I must be crazy...
Edit: I just saw this one... now this one is good...
