Some interesting trivia for you here. I was just on http://www.moviemistakes.com/ 'cause I was bored and haven't visited that site in a long time, so I decided to look up the Harry Potter movies... now what I recall is that a LOT of people used to complain about how there are a million continuity/editing errors in Yates' films etc. so I decided to look at the total number of mistakes in each movie (not just continuity errors) and I found something rather interesting. Here's the total number of mistakes for each film:

Philosopher's Stone - 221
Chamber of Secrets - 294
Prisoner of Azkaban - 302
Goblet of Fire - 109
OOTP - 106
HBP - 83
DH: 1 - 39
DH: 2 - 28

Mistakes mean so much, Apocalypse Now, The Wizard of Oz, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Titanic and Jaws are some of the worst films ever made. Every film ever made has its faults, as is shown; but going by the logic being shown here, POA is the worst of our lot.

Guys, I wouldn't think too much on this, as it could cause you to look down on the films that you have enjoyed.

It's funny that they didn't mentioned that continuity mistake on DH1, when Malfoy is trying to recognize Harry.
  • Which one is that?

Malfoy is looking at Harry, we hear Bellatrix and Cissy talking to him, in the next shot, Malfoy is looking at his mother and he asks "What's wrong with his face?", and in the next shot, he's again looking at Harry, on his knees.

  • You should submit it to moviemistakes. I think you can.

My intent was not to indicate which film is "teh worst" but to imply that people who were constantly complaining way back when about how sloppy/undedicated a director David Yates is were, well, grossly exaggerating or were simply mistaken.

There could be more mistakes they haven't registered as well with the newest films. It is only natural to think that far more time has been devoted to look for such flaws in the older films due to them having existed longer. That being said, I don't doubt that the DH films "win" here.
  • How continuity mistakes originates bad films is beyond my comprehension. Every blockbuster is subjected to mistakes and errors, especially when you have more than thousand takes. Still, it doesn't affect the quality of a film. If the technical and narrative aspects are powerful enough to overcome the errors, it shouldn't be an issue at all.
