J.K. Rowling is back at number one. As of this Thursday her new book The Cuckoo’s Calling will sit atop USA Today’s Best-Selling Books list. Our queen rules again!
In the first book Fred and George are teasing Percy with the P on his Weasley sweater. It obviously stands for Percy, but they say it's supposed to mean Prefect. The Dutch translation of Prefect is Klassenoudste, but Percy is still Percy, so instead of a P, there's a K on the sweater to make this part of the book work. This changes it all big time though, because now Mrs. Weasley did this on purpose which makes no sense and Fred and George are not joking but just pointing out a fact.
Another that just about every studio is chasing is The Cuckoo’s Calling, the mystery by Robert Galbraith that sold few copies and received a pass from at least one studio before it became public that the writer was Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.Neil Blair, who was with Rowling’s longtime rep Christopher Little before leaving, is handling the film rights directly from his UK base. Word is that multiple studios are in the hunt, and that Warner Bros might have an edge after making Rowling’s Harry Potter series. I’ve heard that it’s a good yarn with a strong lead male character.
The Guardian reports that “a fortnight after the Harry Potter author was inadvertently unmasked as the pseudonymous author of the thriller The Cuckoo’s Calling, the novel has attracted the interest of a number of Hollywood studios keen to acquire the rights.” It is believed that before the leak of Galbriath’s true identity, the novel had already received two offers from television production companies.
Several Hollywood studios are understood to be bidding for the rights to launch The Cuckoo’s Calling on the siler screen, but a spokesman for Rowling declined to discuss the matter, saying only: “I’m afraid that we’re not commenting on the film rights situation for The Cuckoo’s Calling.”
Just finished this book yesterday. It is really good! I can't wait for the sequel, it should be awesome!
I still think “The Casual Vacancy” is Rowling's best book to date, though. I just think it's a stronger piece of work than anything else she's written.
Just finished the book and it's phenomenal. I was so caught up in it. It's very thrilling, well-written and it's good how only made-up names were used - that actually felt real (as in the people supposed to be very famous and known). I genuinely haven't found any flaws in the plot, it could all be based on a true story for that matter. I'm not so sure what the next book will be about though if this really is going to be a series.
The English version isn't available anywhere in Brazil, and the Portuguese edition only comes on November. I suppose that's the same with the French edition.
praticaly the english edition is availabler in France but i'm not to easy in english to read an entire book in ! And the translation will only release in November (with translator claiming that is too short to release an good translation that editor put too pression)
Just finished the book today morning (Sunday) at 4am, started it on Friday 11pm. What a phenomenal book!!! Loved it through and through. The way she describes each and everything is so phenomenal, especially comprising a magnificent description of London as the plot wounds in and around the city.
Loved how the jigsaw pieces fall together in the end to reveal who the killer was! Cormoran Strike (lead protagonist) is truly believable, witty and amazing, and so is his sidekick Robin. I can totally see this developing into a series.
OMG I hope so! They said it would be released in the summer so I was expecting it until late July / August, but these are great news (if it becomes true!)
Begun the book yesterday (in advance ^^) and i was realy surprised how good is it ! We all know Jo is a good storyteller and plotbuilder and this is confirmed in this book ! I was disgusting to have to close the book (to sleep it was 3 am) and now i'm waiting tonight to return follow Cormoran on his adventure I love Robin !!
