Movie Nation, Roger Moore As with her best films, Coppola is utterly at ease in this milieu and it shows.
Film.com, David Ehrlich Uncharacteristically loose and deceptively frivolous, The Bling Ring is as much of an attack on The Hills Generation as any of Coppola’s previous films were an exercise in self-pity, which is to say not at all.
The New Yorker, David Denby May be the most exquisitely crafted movie ever made about a bunch of nitwits.
The Telegraph, Robbie Collin Coppola’s uproarious and bitingly timely film feels every inch a necessary artwork.
Guys... I know that Man of Steel comes out this weekend but why not delay the movie and avoid huge crowds when you can watch an independent and artsy film? Let's support The Bling Ring, Sofia and Emma. PLEASE
Unfortunately, here in Canada the movie will be released next week only.

lol I was going to tell you that :P that its coming out next week for us.. so we still can go see Man Of Steel :P
Couldn't care less about Super Heroes buddy. The movies are all the same. Not worth paying to watch them. And apparently, with the Man of Steel, from the reviews, it is the same case.

I understand that you dont like superheroes movie but saying its bad because of reviews its like saying Bling Ring his bad because of the reviews....both of them... people didnt really like it because of the style they did in it and thats not a good reason lol and like weve always said its your opinion that count at the end...reviews are here to give you an idea about the movie before watching them lol

Sam. If I didn't care about reviews I wouldn't be posting scores in this thread every half hour. I never said that I won't watch Man of Steel because of the bad reviews. What I said is that Man of Steel reviews are saying that it is another super hero movie. If I don't like the genre I'm not going to spend money to watch.Simples as that.
I always care about reviews. And The Bling Ring positive reviews says the movie is brilliant. Very different from Man of Steel positive ones.
Anyways, just a matter of taste. You guys need to understand that there is two type of people: movie lovers and filmmaking lovers. I fit in the second group.
for its first seance in Paris the Bling Ring was second at Box office 1- Star Trek Into Darkness with 2 223 tickets sold 2- The Bling Ring with 2 078 tickets sold
YES. Sofia is VERY popular on France. She always draw people over there. Marie Antoinette and Somewhere did pretty well. I'm glad that The Bling Ring is attracting people
Guys, the movie is still doing VERY well in Meta Critic.
And the good reviews are basically RAVES!
Most of the negatives that are still coming up complain about the movie being impartial. I like this idea, actually. Sofia never judges on her movies and scripts. And that is crucial!
Entertainment Weekly Owen Gleiberman For a while, the girls' personalities seem almost interchangeable, but that's part of the texture. Katie Chang gives the leader a ripe synthetic glow, and Emma Watson does a remarkable job of demonstrating that glassy-eyed insensitivity need not be stupid.
Peter Travers from Rolling Stone REALLY liked the movie! The Bling Ring plugs into the zeitgeist of trash culture and sparks like a live wire. ... the gifted Coppola proceeds with the exacting cool of an anthropologist and the discerning eye of a true sensualist. Emma Watson is sensational as Nicki, an underage club girl and actress wanna-be, who lives in a universe of Valley Girl narcissism eons away from Hogwarts. What concerns Coppola is a generation wanting to be just like them.
Quick-witted, well-cast and directed with a deft touch, "The Bling Ring" is Sofia Coppola's best work in years. Kristian Harloff
The Bling Ring is a gloriously repugnant fever dream of reckless excess, rampant insensitivity, and spiritual isolation, one that is absolutely effective in getting its desired visceral reaction from the audience. Jonathan Lack
Some review in french reproach at the movie to not tell us what is good what is bad, that finally the movie doesn't have a moral! But i think they doesn't have understand that is the goal !!
Whoa, this is so weird, but my city's festival had even started promoting The Bling Ring showings on their website, then all of a sudden, it's all gone, they completely removed it from their schedule without any explanation. Turns out I'll only watch it in August 2nd anyway =/

Exactly. Sofia's movies are always amoral. She is always impartial, she never judges her characters and their actions. And that's one of the main reasons why people didn't like Marie Antoinette also.
Yes she take the part to let the public choose ! And concerning the bling Ring i think she's take a good choice, who we are to judge those families, people judge to quickly others like De Gaulle said "balaye devant ta porte avant de balayer devant celle des autres " Are we so perfect !!
And the NY Times reviews proves exactly what we are talking about:
“The Bling Ring” occupies a vertiginous middle ground between banality and transcendence, and its refusal to commit to one or the other is both a mark of integrity and a source of frustration. The audience is neither inside the experience of the characters nor at a safe distance from them. We don’t know how (or if) they think, and we don’t know quite what to think of them. Are they empty, depraved or opaque? Which would be worse?
I understand why some critics didn't like the movie.

Her scripts are not heavy handed. The criticism is subtle and it is up to you to get the interpretation. That's what I like about her.
