So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
Anyone else noticing how depressed Tommy Lee Jones looks? Every time the camera is on him he looks like he doesn't give a fuck about anything that is happening.

Because nearly everyone that has spoken has been a crazy ass unfunny psychopath so far?
Can't imagine how awkard Jennifer Lopez must be feeling, with Affleck calling Garner "my everything", and then she goes to announce a winner and says "My husband".
So, so glad that Argo won Best Picture (Drama). I didn't see that coming at all until Affleck won Best Director, what a surprise though. Shame I can't see it happening at the Oscars, especially since he wasn't nominated for Director.
BTW did anyone notice Joaquin Phoenix there? LOL he looked so fucking out-of-place, I thought he hated awards shows. Fantastic performance though, he was definitely better than Daniel Day-Lewis. :P
Unfortunately, I couldn't watch the GG yesterday due a really intense college project. Although now I'm kinda of done, so I'll be able to watch the left Oscar Contenders. I'm just gonna post some comments about yesterday.
State of the Race I would say that, right now, it is very unpredictable. Before, Lincoln and Silver Linings Playbook were, without a doubt, the one with most chance of winning the biggest prize at the Oscars (with Life of Pi running a little bit behind). The Golden Globes kind of made things a little bit unpredictable. The SAG awards and DGA might clarify things just a little, but still... It has been a pretty interesting year.
Argo winning best picture and Affleck best director was totally unexpected. As the Golden Globes academy is formed by basically the Hollywood Foreign Associated Press, I understand why he won. He is becoming very influential and developing some good directing skills, working as an example. Totally didn't understand why Les Miserables won against Silver Linings Playbook, as it was one of the worst reviewed movies of all nominees (at least by having Rotten Tomates and Meta Critic as parameters). I wasn't very pleased with this winning.
As director and picture are totally unpredictable, I think we can say that best actors are becoming really obvious. The dispute is going to be between Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain, Hugh Jackman and Daniel Day-Lewis (this last one being the favorite by far). Best Supporting Actress will definitely end up with Anne, as for best Supporting Actor Christoph Waltz should be in a safe spot. Great surprise of Tarantino won best Screenplay. He totally deserved it.
This year might be one of the most unpredictable ever. The good thing is that they are awarding different movies, so everybody's work is recognized and that's is something really nice
Disagreeing with you Henrick, solely on your opinion of Les Mis winning. The fact that Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman winning, their victories tell me that the voters had their eye on Les Mis.
Vance. Les Miserables is inarguable the worst reviewed movie from all Oscar Contenders. It's not an opinion. It is a fact. Its surprises me that a award hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association awarded them as Best Musical/Comedy. And acting never had anything to do with the biggest prize, as most of the times is really hard for a movie which won best actress/actor win best picture. Another fact, not opinion.
Les Mis deserved to win, The Academy shouldnt be basing their opinions off of critics anyway. Tom Hooper had a great direction with that film and the costume and art design was outstanding. Anne and Hugh also derserved those awards for those live performance, especially Anne. It takes a lot of talent to perform a song with a camera directly in your face.

Are you really arguing that Les Mis should not have won? Out of all the movies it was up against, Les Mis by far had the most heart and soul into it. Some flaws, yeah, but it had no competition really. It doesn't matter if it had mixed reviews. It was voted over SLP. SLP was good, but I found it pretty forgettable compared to so many films of its kind. Les Mis is not a forgettable movie at all. The work that was put into it from its cast and crew alone is enough to win the award.

Yes I am. I already wrote my review for Les Miserables. And as I hate comparing movies, Silver Linings Playbook is, by far, a much more solid experience. And why it doesn't matter if it had mixed reviews? That totally means that the movie didn't have a consensus and that your opinion is different from the majority. And trust me, all of the crews involved in every nominated movie worked hard. It's not a matter of who put more effort, because in a movie, everybody put effort. Les Miserables has far more flaws than SLP (including, but not restricted to: a weird pace, a bureaucratic direction and a not well developed script).
Les Mis definitely isn't like other movies. Considering its an extremely close adaption, but I stil would rather watch that over SLP any day. We just have different personal opinions of it, which I respect. Although I am obviously not alone in my opinion.
