Not one movie villain this year will be remembered aside from maybe Bane but that will be due to the popularity of Nolan's Batman movies.

In terms of depth, writing, and memorable scenes they were all pretty blah. A great villain is Alan Rickman in Die Hard, or Darth Vader, or Hannibal Lecter or John Doe in SE7EN. Those fuckers set your teeth on edge and truly get under your skin. A great villain should bother and unnerve you to the point of nausea and you want to see the protagonist kick the absolute shit out of them.

Of course, that could just be me being me.

I liked Silva in Skyfall, that was just an all-around great movie, but his motivations were pretty boring-- if it weren't for that I would call him the only great/memorable film villain this year.

He's a much more important character in Catching Fire, I can't wait to see him become more evil.

Top villains for me were President Snow, Bane and Silva.
