They won't remember a little detail from a movie they watched a couple of years ago unless you remind them, which is the job of the filmmakers. They do outright tell you in the end, but the visual connection isn't necessarily made. A normal reaction from a non-reader: "Draco disarmed Dumbledore? Okay if you say so.."
I get where you're coming from but at the same time I'm glad they didn't bend to the will of ignorance or forgetfulness. The movie flat out tells you that Draco disarmed Dumbledore, I mean Harry deliberately states that at the end, so even if people forget, they're still reminded of it. It's a hell of a lot better to me than filling the movie with flashbacks like TDKR did which was just insulting.
It reminds me of that part in Austin Powers 3 that makes fun of flashbacks, when Austin says something, then it shows a flashback from a prior film where he says the same thing and then it cuts back to AP3, he looks at the camera and says "see? I DID say that!" with a wink wink. I just... really don't care for flashbacks. Sometimes they work and are necessary but most of the time they make me feel like the storytellers aren't doing their jobs and have to remind people of things.

I maintain it should have been re-established through a flashback that Draco disarmed Dumbledore. Show it in Snape's memories and include Snape saying "no" to give the moment relevance within the scene and cut to him casting the killing curse. We saw material that wasn't from his POV as it is. On the bridge later on, zoom into the Elder Wand as a transition to show a montage of it changing allegiance from the originator to Gregorowitsch (skipping everyone in-between them) and all the way up to Harry instead of having him explain it in detail to Ron and Hermione. "It's mine" will do. As a way of setting up the pay-off, have Dumbledore ask Harry why he thinks the Elder Wand failed Voldemort in the forest. Harry has no idea, he says, because he saw Voldemort kill Snape. Then Dumbledore concludes rather cheerfully that the wand never belonged to Snape. Harry is puzzled at this and points out that Dumbledore was murdered by Snape. Dumbledore answers that "Its allegiance must already have passed over to another person. I will be going now, Harry." And he disappears in the fog just like in the movie, but with a key difference: Harry is even more frustrated at Dumbledore leaving and the audience is left wondering who actually possesses it. If they think Draco does, good because there is no well in hell they will understand that Harry owns it now by taking Draco's other wand. However, at the beginning I would like Olivander to set up the fact that murder isn't the only way to overpower a wizard.
That's how you create suspense, but unfortunately the filmmakers opted for the surprise factor.
And I don't remember TDKR being stuffed with flashbacks.
However, at the beginning I would like Olivander to set up the fact that murder isn't the only way to overpower a wizard.
On second thought, it was implied in that scene. What wasn't established on the other hand is that when you overpower a wizard, ALL of his wands change allegiance to you.
A brave move by director Tom Hooper but a successful one as he directs a musical based film that is filled with music all the way through which I was actually unaware of, I didnt know that there was no spoken dialogue but nevertheless, it was thoroughly entertaining and an absolutely magnificent ensemble of actors. Each and every performance was beautiful and strong, very impressive.
Lincoln - 7/10. A captivating and intriguing portrait of one of America's greatest heroes. It wasn't as exciting or thrilling as Spielberg's films usually are, but that's to be expected given the subject matter and kudos to Spielberg for stepping out of his comfort zone and creating a classic, tangible and enjoyable piece of artwork. Not my pick for best film of the year, but a great film nonetheless.

Doctor Who series five is one of the most mysterious and even after finishing there's still so many unanswered questions but that's what I love about the show. It is so awesome to see how the littlest things mean catastrophic consequences for the Universe. I also really really liked all the Nostalgic throwbacks in this season. It really encompassed the grand nature of this tv show and how large in scope it really is with the classic series.
Highlights: River Song, Adorable ol' Rory, Amy, Angels, Van Gogh and The Pandorica Two Part Finale but above all Matt Smith is hands down my favorite Doctor. He really surprised me Well I guess I enjoyed everything for the most part haha Lowpoints: Hmm...Cant really recall one lol Seriously.
why havent you seen the hobbit yet its been out for 2 weeks?
Oh I have lololol I even gave it a short review because I knew my thoughts on it would cause WWIII here on HPF lmao. I gave it a 7/10 lol Nearly a 6/10

After Jordy's... uh, analysis of FOTR, I'm pretty much completely obsolete to any opinion I read online, so you're good.

If 6-7/10 is enough to cause a war, I'm afraid my rating means doomsday.

LOL In all honestly I gave it a 5/10 the other night to one of my best friends and gave an in depth review when I was drunk at a pub lmao. He was describing how I reviewed it and he said I sounded like I hated it. It wasnt my least favorite movie of the year but Its the second worst imo.
How do these fucking movies get made? It depresses me that I'm not a published author when I watch these cunt forsaken excuses for sex night entertainment.

:-O:-O:P
I think LOTR is a strong and impressively made trilogy, though ROTK is in my eyes weaker than the other parts. I think I'll rewatch it soon, however, as I've only seen it once in its entirety. My recent viewings of FOTR and TTT after years of Middle-earth absense proved to be rewarding (now I love them as opposed to just acknowledging that they are good films that didn't engage me), so I may be more thrilled with ROTK as well this time around.
As for the Hobbit, I liked the novel enough to pick up Tolkien's magnum opus.
The Impossible(Juan Antonio Bayona, 2012) It moved me. A lot. There's no denying that this is a melodramatic movie that is always searching for a catharsis. But it works amazingly well, actually. All the controversial talk about the movie portraying "white" tourists aside, The Impossible is a very powerful film with remarkable scenes - the Tsunami scene itself is a masterpiece and one of the year's best - and unforgettable performances that should be recognized. Not only Naomi Watts, but Ewan McGregor and specially Tom Holland - a young actor that I will certainly follow the steps.
So I watched "The Impossible" today. I am devastated. The film is freaking raw and powerful. Loved every second of it.
J.A. Bayona's direction is outstanding, but the real winners here are the actors. Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor both give very powerful performances, and the young cast, their 3 kids, are fantastic. Mainly Lucas, their eldest child played by Tom Holland. The kid will take your soul and shatter it in a million pieces.
Overall, I'd definitely say that "The Impossible" is one of my favourites of the year. Bravo.
The Amazing Spiderman (8.1/10) The Bourne Identity (8.3/10) The Dark Knight (9.6/10) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (8.9/10) 007: Goldeneye (7.3/10) 007: Casino Royale (8.0/10) The Bourne Legacy (4.8/10) The Avengers (7.5/10) Avatar (5.2/10)
New: Lord of the Rings: FOTR (4.5/10) Lord of the Rings :TTT (5.0/10) Lord of the Rings: ROTK (4.0/10) The Woman in Black (6.1/10) The Social Network (7.5/10) Batman & Robin (2.2/10) Catwoman (3.5/10) Looper (5.4/10)
As for Looper, I felt like I was watching good television, not a movie. And the trailer got my hopes up because of the action, and well in the movie, there's not so much. So yeah, 5.4. Not bad, just not enough.
Jordy, what would be needed for a +0.1 point with Prisoner of Azkaban? To be honest, that 8.9 is an absurd rating. You may as well round up to a 9.
As for what I've watched, I recently saw the entirety of Deadwood again along with the first four seasons of Dexter. Of course Deadwood is as phenomenal as it has always been, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Dexter given seasons five and six were piles of shit.

So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
Rick why do u disagree, im sorry but your disagree bullshit is getting on my nerves.
That's what happens when you introduce a feature that shelves discourse.

1) We do NOT have to explain ourselves every time we flag someone. It's not an obligation. 2) I totally disagree with your comment saying "leave the guy alone". He rated acclaimed movies, gave a low score and didn't even make a comment about it. So people over here have totally the right to question him and start a debate. 3) This is a forum. If someone posts an opinion, no one have to "give the guy a break". It's totally fine to question an opinion.
Flagging in activity is totally different. People are flagged over there for spamming and trolling, when activity is an already Off-Topic place. Now, there's nothing wrong with disagreeing.
And I'm not in the mood of discussing. If you are unhappy and unsatisfied with my reply, not my problem. Have a good night.
Yeah but if i disagree i dont overly use the button to show I disagree.. you use it all the time when u disagree thats different. Imagine ppl used it as much as u, then everyone would be spammed with the button. Silly.
