That'll be the perfect time for me to tell you which is better, since the screening at BFI IMAX was in 24fps, and the one I'll be seeing on Sunday is in 48fps.
I liked it. Maybe the most negative thing is that it looks like if someone fast forward the film, but it made the CGI much more realistic, like if you we're there.

Just got back from the film. It was amazing. Bring on The Desolation of Smaug!
What happened with the machine going to flame? I tought you said they stop the movie? Did you enjoy the HFR 3D or was it to distracting?
Glad that you like it! Can't wait for tonight 7pm!
It wasnt the projection booth, it was the popcorn machine that caught fire in the lobby. Luckily it stopped during the trailers. NO STAR TREK TRAILERE JKBNJDBJBUDB...
The HFR 3D was amazing and so clear and no motion blur, during the attack on Dale it did speed up a bit, but after that it everything mellowed out. I might see it again with my friend today in HFR 3D and then I can give my full review.

Alright, so I decided I'm going to go see HFR 3D. Hope my eyes don't explode, loll. Should be interesting and I hope I love it, going off in a half hour.
I am glad you enjoyed it Staff!!! I will watch the movie tomorrow, so I am keeping myself off from that thread of yours, but I did read the last 2-3 lines and it gave me immense joy.
BTW they cut the scene of Bilbo looking at Narsil. I'm sure it will be on the extended edition though. Unless it's way at the end of Part 3 and they visit Rivendell? I can't remember if they do in the book or not. I'm sure the former is more likely.
I'm sorry I've completely derailed the rate/review thread, but here's post from there that'll get buried that I'd like to share:
AAHHHH MY FEELS MAN, MAN FEELS!!!!! All the connections to LOTR made me want to tear, lmfao, especially the beginning. The ending was fantastic, I LOVE THORIN!
I'm on mobile so I'm just going to create a quick reaction:
Pros:
-Connections to LOTR -Acting (that was a given) -Battle scenes were great -Anything with the Orc -Score (thank you for the feels Shore!)
Cons:
-Humor, a little much with the dwarves that I felt could have been winded down and the goblin king. His look didn't bother me, but the general humor about it did a little -CGI was overused a bit, not gonna lie -Did not have the grand scope and feel LOTR did -3D is always a pain in the ass
Surprises:
-Runtime did not bother me, it felt a little slow but truthfully, it wasn't too bogged down -HFR was easy to adjust to. It wasn't perfect, my eyes weren't met very friendly, some twists and turns looked awkward to the eye because of it being so unused to this frame rate. So while occasionally there were movements my eyes caught as awkward, overall it was not a bad experience and my eyes adjusted to the most part, probably thanks to it being on a large screen. On a TV, it may feel completely different.
Overall - Not LOTR, but still a very excellent film. Did you love LOTR? Well you'll probably like or love this too.
I have to wait until at least Boxing Day to see this. Nyeargh. I just have to ask. Does Smaug get any lines?
No. But he was actually in the film more than I expected him to be. They obviously don't show anything full-body, but more bit and pieces than I expected.
am i mistaken about Bilbo having a run in with some spiders in the hobbit? i kept waiting for it and it never happened. im not even sure if im remembering that correctly.

My low end box office prediction is sadly coming true. Attendance is down for TH all across the world so far and looking to be so in the US.

I just can't get over how bad most scenes looked
Attendance is sharply down from ROTK in all markets, which was to be expected and that's also what I said to begin with :P
That final scene, the cliffhanger, was perfect.
Weirdly, there were only 7 people at my showing.

Lord Stafford.
I thought it was fantastic, even though it was
also quite different from what I was expecting.
Nevertheless, I thought everyone did a tremendous
job bringing the book to life.
I'll try to post a review tomorrow!
