This was one of three Potter games in the works...and folks this definitely won't be the last one coming
This is wonderful and caught me off guard! I didn't know the trailer was coming out so soon, but I will most definitely be getting this. It looks decent for a first trailer ^_^
The graphics suck and Kinect has yet to prove itself as a suitable gimmick for gameplay.
What confuses the last twelve fucks out of me is that you have the Wii remote and the Playstation Move controllers, both consisting of the player actually holding a WAND TYPE APPARATUS and yet they're developing this for a finicky add-on without anything to actually hold.
It doesn't make any sense whatsoever and judging by the production values, it's yet another quick cash-in job.
Well, the graphics suck but faces of characters look much better than any HP game ever had...By the way, I like that environments look very similar to what we saw in the movies...

Is it really true? I heard some rumours but I don't know what to think about that..
I can't really say what I know about the three different projects but I can tell you two are great and one I hope never sees the light of day. There is talk of a fourth but I'm not sure if it will end up materializing lol
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Eurocom will cast a spell among Harry Potter fans of all ages this fall with the Harry Potter for Kinect videogame exclusively on Kinect(TM) for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
Based on all eight Harry Potter films, Harry Potter for Kinect allows players to join Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as they embark on an unforgettable journey through Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and beyond. With Kinect's scanning technology, for the first time ever in a Harry Potter game, players will be able to scan in their own face to create a unique witch or wizard to journey through the adventures of the film.
In addition, Kinect's hands-free and voice recognition capabilities allow gamers to cast spells using physical maneuvers and by calling out spell names, offering an extraordinary, immersive Harry Potter experience.
"Harry Potter for Kinect will engage Harry Potter fans old and new by bringing them into the wizarding world as truly active participants," said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Kids and parents will enjoy recreating their favorite Harry Potter adventures, from flying a broomstick in a Quidditch match, to battling pixies and duelling other wizards."
Harry Potter for Kinect gives players the opportunity to experience some of the films' most memorable moments, both as the relevant characters or as their own avatars, including visiting Ollivanders, choosing a house at Hogwarts, and confronting He Who Must Not Be Named in a climactic final battle. Players who master their lessons can also take on their opponents in competitive mini-games, or join forces with family and friends in co-op gameplay.

I must say, the faces are well done. It can't be motion capture, as no 'Potter' actor has said anything about it.
Lord Stafford.
I doubt they have, however I do know that every single character, from the Dumbledores, to Griphook, even Bem and the many Lavenders and Pansy Parkinsons have all been laser scanned and their likenesses are pretty much now owned by WB LOL. How creepy is that?! lmao its so that as the actors age, they can continue to generate more video games, toys, collectibles, etc as time progresses lol. It seems so sinister, but I guarantee they used those scans in this game
Ry, you are very much informed about HP games Do you know what happened to these "scenes"? Or they are just promo pictures? Because I don't see any reason to make something like this when they probably knew the game wouldn't include them... http://www.abcgames.sk/?p=screenshoty_zobraz&id=1843

When I was a kiddo and I used to play the SS/PS PC game I always wanted to find that cool looking area with the Lumos Gargoyle! Alas, many years down the road I found out that all of these shots, and many for COS as well, were all created in the early game drafts before it was finalized. In one of the shots theres the early rendering of the Potions Classroom, etc...However there is one bit of info a lot of people do not know about with the HP PS/SS game. There are several shots of the trio in corridors with the Snake sculptures, and potion vials, as well as the shot of McGonagall in the classroom. From what I was told, this was part of a class mission for Transfiguration in the PC Game that was scrapped due to time constraints. Most the other games had a Transfiguration lesson using Avifors so my guess is that this is what the level was. I know it came after Lumos with Quirrell and before Fluffy and the chambers of course but this whole bit of the game was chucked to the trashbin sadly
However with all those shots, what they usually did was code it, pause the movements, move the characters how they liked, took a screenshot and thats where most of these come from. Some are from the gameplay but only one or two.
Thanks a lot, this explains a lot That info about McGonagall is really interesting- I always wondered why there wasn't any level with Transfiguration lesson while PSX and PS2 version had it...Anyway, do you know something about more parts which were scrapped? And is it true EA always got a rough cut of movie which they needed for their development? Because if I remember correctly, there is an alternate Sirius' death and more dialogues between Dumbledore and Voldemort during their battle...
It looks decent, too bad I don't own an XBox. I'm still waiting for a free-roam Hogwarts (with plot line option of course) epic Harry Potter game with fantastic graphics and a great engine--a Potter Skyrim, if you will. Too bad it most likely will never come.
Using the Kinect camera, players will be able to scan their faces and create a unique playable wizard or witch. Before the Kinect, “face scan” characters usually involved uploading a photo of yourself to the console and the game pasting it onto a wireframe so it came out looking creepy. From the looks of the announcement trailer, it looks like the developers were smart in not trying to duplicate your face, but instead create similar features using your scan.
Along with putting your face into the game, players will use the Kinect sensor to cast spells using physical movements and by calling out spell names.
The graphics have much more to do with gameplay than a story. The 8-bit game of Batman had a story. Call of Duty doesn't. What would you prefer playing? Graphics mean a lot to me, at least.
