Except box office isn't a level of quality, so there shouldn't be anything to get worked up about. If it was put on like IMDB 250 above a lot, then yeah, go ahead and say IMDB people are nuts, cuz I'd agree. But box office isn't about quality, so I really don't see at all why it matters.
I know. I'm saying that it's still a shame and I don't understand why it fits in with all these other spectacular "event" films on the top of the box office when there's really nothing special about it other than it being entertaining. And it's ranked #37 on IMDB's Top 250. -_-
Well it is a big even film. It's fun for majority of people and, I totally respect your opinion, but people who dislike it are in the heavy minority. Not in the forum, but overall, others would see that comment and just go "but it was an amazing film and totally fine beating records." I'm just saying, totally not knocking ur opinion down, just noting that what you think is the minority, and that's fine, I technically am for movies like Hugo and tons others. I'm just saying a majority of people disagree with what you think, that it was an amazing thrill ride movie, and would be perfectly fine with it beating BO records.
Now, as for 37 on imdb, that's way too high, lolll. I really liked it, but not 37 of the top 250
I know. :P I knew it would have a heavy, front-loaded opening but I really didn't expect it to have such legs and that's why I think it's disappointing. It's enjoyable, but the #3 film of all time should be more than just enjoyable.

And for many people it is, but I get what you're saying. I just recall my anger towards Hugo with the oscars and I know exactly how you feel
I do go to the movies to be entertained... Not bored to death like I was during this movie. There was no plot for me to be concerned about. That's why I prefer films like Inception because it's entertaining AND intelligent... Which we as a country could do with more of.

I dont get why the hell you all are so angry, this was bound to happen if it was The Avengers or not, DH2 will not remain at the top of that list, im just stating the facts, audiences are not gonna go to a movie that doesnt interest them or don't know nothing about, everyone that didnt understand would have to go back and watch all seven films just to get to that point of whats going on, and i cant even get my family to sit through two films.
The reason The Avengers prevailed is because it was already known like Potter but The Avengers predates Potter years before, you all forget that this movie has never been done before and of course audiences are gonna like that better, think about the people that grew up with Marvel like we did Potter, it was the same thing for them but with these characters.

BIGGEST BLU RAY EVENT OF ALL TIME.... I want to see what they do with the release, because if this phrase means only the simple blu-ray release...then daamn what an EGO!! lol

I liked the movie and all, but I really don't see myself getting the Blu-ray or even bothering to watch it again anytime soon. It's a great movie, but I've never quite felt it.
