Harry Potter should have songs

Potter35Potter35 Posts: 1,117 ✭✭✭✭
edited July 2012 in General
Well I was just thinking that Harry Potter should have its own songs sung by amazing singers. Many good movies got their own sound tracks like Twilight has got Its own songs which I think are really good. Now listen guys I am not comparing just expressing my point of view and the couples are really beautiful I must say. They actually needed a romantic track. What do you think? This is not possible now though but I still made this so that we could discuss further; That is why discussions are created, right? and I was thinking about track since ages. I wish Harry Potter could have some, Its a Super hit after all.

    O Children

Haha, I dunno. I like it better without actual songs.

I really loved the music we got in the movies tbh :)

I did like this bit, just like I imagined the Weird Sisters:

I liked the inclusion of this track in HBP in the common room scene:

and in DHp1 my favorite addition to the movies in the Harry and Hermione scene :) I loved this song even before it was in the movie and though that when it was announced, it was a perfect fit :)

I think that if we had some indie bands doing some tracks to add in whenever there were scenes in the common room, or the weasleys that would be fine possibly. Idk I think they strove to make the movies as much as they could to mirror the books so with the Sisters in GOF that fits, with the Wizarding Wireless Network I can see Big Beat Repeat played and with DHp1 more than likely there was a muggle station interference for Nic Cave to end up playing. I loved it and didnt think it was too out of the ordinary.

Its kind of like with Twilight it would make sense for the songs on the soundtrack to play in real life since they live in the real world and that would be possible, but I wonder if wizards ever listen to muggle music? Or, do they stick to whats on the WWN? Hmm... It poses a great thought :)

I wonder how that one slipped my mind! I loved it added to POA and thought if fit absolutely perfectly! Adding another dimension to Flitwick as well making him the side Choir director :)

In Noctem was such a well executed scene it should NOT have been deleted. It was simply beautiful :)

Soundtracks are way overrated imo and the lack of them only makes the movies better

Can you dance like a hippogriff mamamama love it
  • SarahElizabeth!SarahElizabeth! Posts: 5,265 ✭✭✭✭
I have Dance Like a Hippogriff on my phone.

And to be honest, a song for couples would anger me. I don't like how much they focused on the romance as it is. I like it simple.

No doubt good songs but a Romantic track was actually needed.

A soundtrack is neccesary for a movie. For instant: the opening scene of HBP wouldn't be as powerful when it didn't include a soundtrack.

There's no need for a romance overload in hp, there are other books that cover that. It's not at all what this story is about, nor should it be.
  • chesterchester Posts: 4,331 ✭✭✭✭✭
Romance is a little subplot in the Potter saga. As it should be in every saga.

Btw does everyone remember this fanmade opening for DH2?:

Never was a big fan of the music in the films, In Noctem is beautiful though and O Children made the tent scene for me.

@Ry I only know that song 'Do the Hippogrif' My memory sucks. I thought Harry Potter simply had no soundtracks. But as you guys posted up, I am embarrassed. -_-
I need to watch Goblet of fire AGAIN. Tomorrow!!! Also, the songs are fine and still I couldn't find any good romantic track. For what this discussion was created. :D

I rather enjoyed the freshness Nick Cave's song provided in Deathly Hallows - Part 1, but other than using it as part of the plot, I don't see the need for vocals (unless they're included in the score, like Enya.) They just make films like Harry Potter seem tacky.

Yeah some tracks do make them seem tacky but the couples deserved just one good track maybe in DH or HBP. A track sung by a singer who is pretty famous. The couples actually needed this, HP is a movie about magic but It contains love too and that track would have shown it perfectly. But That is not possible now. :(

I always hated the idea of songs being used in films, unless it was only a vague song every now and then, like O Children. That was part of my dread when The Hunger Games was coming up, because of the companion album. I thought those songs would be used in the film, which just wouldn't work. They work in the Twilight films to good effect, because Twilight is a sort of realist film (BEAR WITH ME). It's set in a modern time, and it's not set in a fantasy world, which means touches of the familiar, like the music, is good and works, but for entirely new worlds like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games, it would just seem too strange to hear Taylor Swift or someone's voice in an emotional scene.

I totally respect your point of view. This story is imaginary,I admit but that doesn't mean Imaginary stuff can not have songs sung by real people. They show our world too known as muggle world and I don't think If there is any harm when Taylor's or someone else voice is heard during an emotional or romantic scene. But I don't say that you are wrong. You have got a good point but I am explaining my points anyway. :)

Isn't there a song called Boys Will Be Boys playing on the radio when Harry walks in the Gryffindor common room after Umbridge's speech during the opening feast in OotP?

Harry Potter and a soundtrack of written songs for the films do not match. A nice original score is definitely enough.

Songs usually blow ass. I mean, turn on the radio at any given moment and then think about Alexandre Desplat. If you don't immediately throw the fuck up you have horrible taste in music.

    I JUST DESTROYED A HORCRUX

    SO CALL ME MAYBE

All right I never meant a call me maybe song after destroying horcrux or Lovestory after finishing Voldy. I am just talking about a single Romantic track.

I know but it seems like many artists these days are incapable of writing good lyrical music. Besides Adele. But even I wouldn't want her doing a HP song.

I'm not saying its impossible, the LOTR movies had good songs from Enya and the other two chicks, but if Potter did something similar people would just gripe about it ripping off LOTR.
