Set in the South two years before the Civil War, "Django Unchained" stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.
Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.
Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie's trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival...
Written and directed by Academy Award®-winner Quentin Tarantino, DJANGO UNCHAINED is produced by Stacey Sher, Pilar Savone and Reginald Hudlin. The executive producers are Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Michael Shamberg, Shannon McIntosh, and James Skotchdopole. DJANGO UNCHAINED will be released in the U.S. on December 25, 2012, and internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing International.
So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
Indeed. I think the only movies of his I enjoy are Collateral, Any Given Sunday, and Miami Vice.
I will be seeing this only for DiCaprio.

To be honest, I really hope DiCaprio is finally going to put on a powerhouse performance enough to be nominated for even Supporting Actor. I doubt it, though. The Academy refuses to give him shit. :P Oh well, he'll always have won for 'The Aviator' in my mind.
Footage from Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" in 3D got immense reactions from the crowd at CinemaCon. They said he was back in his Moulin Rouge style of filmmaking, so we can hope it's finally Leo's year (although if he's nominated for Django, it'll be Supporting Actor. )
Leo's going to get an Oscar for this, or for The Great Gatsby. Considering anyone who is anyone in writing and Hollywood has an orgasm over The Great Gatsby whenever someone mentions it, I am assuming more for the latter.
No, he won't. Then again TGG looks like total Oscar bait, it even has Carey Mulligan in it which just seals the deal. PLEASE GOD GIVE US AN ACADEMY AWARD
The Weinstein Co. presented a 7 minutes featurette of the movie today ad Cannes. The reactions:
Drew McWeeny, HitFix: "OMFG, 'Django Unchained' looks so good. SO GOOD. #Cannes"
Jake Howell, Movie City News: "Just saw trailer for 'Django 'the D is silent' 'Unchained.' Mind successfully blown."
Eric Vespe, Ain't It Cool: "Holy shit, 'Django Unchained' looks ridiculously fun. FRANCO NERO!!! That's all I'll say here. Write-up coming soon."
James Rocchi, MSN Movies: "Just saw trailers for 'The Master,' 'Silver Linings Playbook' & 'Django Unchained.' Again, like guessing college grades from an ultrasound..."
Brad Brevet, Rope of Silicon: "Most intrigued by 'The Master' footage, 'Django Unchained' ext. trailer seemed safe but solid & 'Silver Linings' seemed rather pedestrian."
Raffi Asdourian, The Film Stage: "'Django Unchained' looks f'n badass... 7 minute trailer ending with Jamie Foxx shooting his pistol to James Brown 'Payback' 'The D is Silent'"
Alex Billington, First Showing: "'Django... the D is silent.' Ha oh man 'Django Unchained' footage looks so unbelievably badass. I love Tarantino! Saw a good 7 mins - awesome!"
Anne Thompson, Indiewire: "Weinstein show & tell in #cannes of footage from 'The Master, "Silver Linings Playbook' and 'Django Unchained' wowed media crowd. All tricky!"
Empire Magazine: "Harvey Weinstein just presented 7 mins of 'Django Unchained.' Looks ace. We're tipping Fritz the nodding horse to be a breakout star. #Cannes"
Twitch: "'Django' gets the most whoops. Plenty of blood, plenty of laughs. Looks like it will be the Cristophe Waltz show. 'The D is silent.' #Cannes"
