Yony, while the marketing in the US was good enough, you can be sure that the word of mouth helped the movie over there too.
Unfortunately, worldwide, the word of mouth wasn't good enough to guarantee. People don't seem to be interested on it. If they were, the word of mouth would certainly work. Over here, in Brazil, it didn't.
It's actually a synth sound, resembing the sound of a train (it's syncroniced with the second where the train enters to the tunnel and the Capitol is on the background).
Yeah I know. To me it sounds less like a train and more like cheering, but that's just me.
Also, I have mixed feelings about the end of Catching Fire. The part of the hovercraft when Plutarch and Haymitch explain that there was a plan to rescue them from the arena is poorly done, and it just makes me palm my face. Instead of them actually explaining it in word form, Collins gives us a paragraph or two of exposition and expects it to be enough of an explanation. But apart from that, I liked the cliffhanger.
WHAT?! That was one of the best cliffhangers I've had the pleasure to read!

A great cliffhanger? Yes. Clumsily thrown together and had no build up? Yes.
Basically.
With a cliffhanger of that kind, how can you expect it to have build-up? Everything was happening so fast.
I do agree with Phineas, though. I feel like Suzanne could have explained everything a bit better once they were in the hovercraft. But the ending of Catching Fire, as a whole, is simply amazing.

Leven Rambin (Glimmer) was casted as Clarisse (daughter of Ares) in Percy Jackson 2. I love how they keep the saga trinity (Harry Potter/Percy Jackson/The Hunger Games) togheter. And Leven has a bitch look on her face which it makes her perfect as Clarisse.
Although that is totally hypocritical, I confess that the main thing that attracted me on The Hunger Games was the exposed violence. By that, I do agree that the book is not suitable to young kids. But banning from libraries and stuff is just ridiculous.

The violence was the only legit criticism though... All the rest were ludicrous.
If for them is evil, then why don't make something with the stuff that inspired the book in first place? The wars? The people dying on TV and people don't giving a shit about it?
I don't think the problem is people being killed or dying. The "issue" of the narrative is the idea of kids murdering kids. During a time where bullying dominates schools and incidents like Columbine has been happening, I believe I can understand the concern.
By the way, one of the reasons that Quentin Tarantino dropped off the american version of Battle Royale was because of Columbine.

I think teens NEED more books like this.
Katniss Everdeen is going to hell.
-_-
Mysterious thing time.
really good people being put
in really bad situations.
The book is narrated from Katniss'
perspective, and she constantly reminds
us of how wrong this all is.
Why can't people see that?

my opinion stayed thesame, stil one of my faves of the year
The great irony here being that she herself is "going after the young".
