Now that I remember, Steven Sodenbergh directed the second unit of the first movie. So, if Ross doesn't come back, they could hire Sodenbergh to direct the second movie. I don't know how much it's from Sodenbergh or Ross, but I don't think there's going to be too much of a difference.
Some people have mentioned Danny Boyle, since that his screenwriter for Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours has done the Catching Fire script.
How on earth is the Hunger Games an epic? It's such a distastefully overused word these days that it basically means nothing anymore. IMHO. Unless you can tell in what way it was epic?

I dunno, me personally rarely refer to films as popcorn flicks unless they merely exist to entertain and don't intend to be anything beyond that. WIth other films however, such as The Hunger Games, I feel that the term devalues the efforts of the filmmakers trying to give it some depth in addition to entertaining an audience.
For me the Hunger Games is a dystopian action/drama.
Deadline also noted that the rumors suggesting that Ross tossed away the chance to helm "Catching Fire" due to salary dispute are flawed. The director had lobbied hard to adapt "Hunger Games" trilogy to the big screen and made it the biggest hit of his directing career, and Deadline learned that the filmmaker wouldn't simply leave the franchise given how active he has been in the construction of "Catching Fire".
Since November 2011, Ross and author Suzanne Collins have been working hard to prepare "Catching Fire". The two have tapped Oscar winner Simon Beaufoy to pen the script for the sequel. Another reason why Ross could stay in the franchise is his tight bond with everyone involved in the film, especially the cast members.
I don't know if someone has pointed this out on the thread anywhere. But I'm listening to the score, and I've just noticed at the beginning of Entering The Capitol...you can hear what sounds like the distant roar of a crowd. Gave me the biggest chills...
It's actually a synth sound, resembing the sound of a train (it's syncroniced with the second where the train enters to the tunnel and the Capitol is on the background).
Something else I noticed in 'The Countdown' track, at around 0:28 it sounds like it stuffs up or something, in every single version I've listened to it does this so it's not a glitch or anything, it's nothing serious it just makes me curious.
People who are dissapointed with the overseas numbers should remember that a year ago, the movie was unlikely to be a huge sucess. A barely known book trilogy, with a small fanbase, a controversial casting, and labeled as the next Twilight which provocated a lot of hate of people who thought it was another brainless teen saga.
Now it has made more money in US in just two weeks than the four Twilight films in three months. And with almost 460 millions dolars worldwide, the fact that it's a sucess when most of the people wasn't hoping too make enough money to guarantee a sequel or being praised by critics, and being a new film franchise, it's something amazing.

Just kidding. But seriously, it was not intended as a joke.
Don't make a big deal about just because Rich decided to use the word to describe his experience.
