Guys, I watched it today again, for the second time.
This time, with a quiet and respectful audience.
    The difference was abysmal.

I took the car and went to the cinema by myself.
I wanted to focus completely on the film.

This viewing made me love the film even more.
    I recommend a re-watch to everyone, honestly.

I was able to detect some things
that went by too fast on the initial
    viewing.

    The Bloodbath is simply spectacular!

I watched it today, it was really good! Better than what I expected because of the mixed reviews that I have read. I can definitely say that the experience for a person who read the books and watched it if WAY more complete than those who didn't... I feel that movie goers got JIBBED on the story lol. Especially in the cave...

Lots of the 2nd film will have to explain small details that were missed in this one... but overall good movie, will watch again if a friend asks.

    JEN LAW was fantastic.
=D> couldnt agree more it was great!! cant wait untill november 2013 for mockinjay.

yeah... I saw it in IMAX the first time, and a lot of the bloodbath details got lost on me. I think it was just too much to take in. lol... But when I saw it again today, I was blown away by that scene. The movie really does get even better on the re-watch. :D

Can somebody tell me (without spoiling much) if Katniss is actually going to do something/fight in Catching Fire?

I'm really keen to see it again, I think it's definitely one of those movies where you just have to see it again, whether you loved it or not. My brother didn't like it and I told him he needs to acknowledge the film for what it is and not just on the things it didn't show from the book but he's just like no I'm not going to change my mind. I just hate that so much, he's purely basing his opinion on the movie in comparison to the book, I know it's his opinion but AHHH it annoys me.

Because i felt that the only thing she did during the games was hiding. I expected she was going to fight some tributes. That was one of the major factors of my dissapointment.

I feel like if I say too much, I'll give something away haha... You should try the books. They're incredible and a very quick read. :D

I'll say this... There's plenty of action, and some really awesome new characters that join the story. The second book is my favorite, so my hopes are high for the movie :D

I already bought the books. I think i will read them before i see the other movies because otherwise they will also be a huge dissapointment.

Honestly It's been the book readers that have drove me crazy, I wish I wouldn't have read the book before the movie because I knew what happened beforehand. The film trumps the book in emotion, similar to how LOTR films trump the books. I keep hearing people getting mad because they 'didn't include this' or 'they needed to expound on this' lol just shut da fuck up and enjoy the film.

I will say it conveyed raw emotion better than I could have ever expected. The untrained narrative was like christmas come early to me.

This movie gives me hope we'll more district uprisings in Carching Fire that lead up to the you know what (don't wanna spoil) instead of just the victory tour. Plus I hope then in Mockinjay we get some full blown out battles rather than what we got.

Wow! $155 million for 'The Hunger Games' from 4,137 locations. Best non-sequel opening of all time.

I loved how they used the camera and sound to make you feel like you are actually there or are Katniss. For example, when the mines explode everything gets very muffled and you start to hear a ringing (like you would in your ear after being exposed to a loud noise). Another moment of this is the hallucinations after the tracker jacker attack.

Yes, I loved this. I think it deserves an Oscar for sound mixing. Like, whenever the hovercraft comes at the end. You hear and FEEL its vibrations. You really have to see it in theaters to get this effect.

I liked that too acciohp. And the way they did the tracker jack poisoning scene was well done.

Hey, I just re-watched the bloodbath scenes, and if you pay attention you actually can see all twelve tributes being killed.

My favorite scenes by far are the District 11 uprising, the feast, and the mutts. I can't wait to see those scenes again!!

I love the visuals of the districts. They greyish color. It reminded me of some holocaust films in terms of looks. Mostly during the reaping

The entire time when I was watching the district 12 scenes, all I could think about was the Holocaust.

when they locked crane in that room there should have been one of those white flowers next to the berries that would have been EPIC
That would have been cool. Like 2 vases of white roses next to the berries. :D

The Pirate Bay. There's a decent version. Kind of like a VHS, but not like recorded by a Nokia 1100.

Didn't you guys all love how Katniss and Foxface bump into each other on the Cornucopia scene and look at each other like "I don't want to kill anyone"

    THE SHIT
    image

  • mattStrelowmattStrelow Posts: 3,183 ✭✭✭✭✭
And I also loved that they showed Ceasar and Claudius commenting on the games

  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
I know. They looked at each other like so are we going to try and kill each other or what.
  • yonythemoonyyonythemoony Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭✭✭
Nah, both we're scared in that bit.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
That is why they were scared though. Because they were thinking are we going to try and kill each other or what.
  • mattStrelowmattStrelow Posts: 3,183 ✭✭✭✭✭
One of the only things that made me sad was how Cinna wasn't developed at all.
He was just like "Oh, you'll win, oh, I made you some cool clothes". He's not nearly as effective as in the book.
I hope they make him better in Catching Fire or the tube scene will make no sense.

LMAO I also pictured Rue as blonde, even though the book describes her as black

  • yonythemoonyyonythemoony Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hipocrits, when the casting was announced they we're whining because almost all the characters we're white people, and now they complain because there's black people? Racist assholes.

One of the most ridiculous scenes in the film.

"Oh look, there she is! Look at how jolly we are! Hahahhaha!"
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
I don't know how i pictured Rue. I didn't picture her as blonde though. I can't remember the description from the book. I really liked the girl they had play her though. She was a good choice.

I didn't like how hey dragged out her death. After the first minute it was boring, and I personally didn't need 4 more.

I mean how the whole scene was dragged out, which came off as a poor attempt to make an emotional scene with a character that wasn't developed at all.

She's described as dark skin in the book.

Yeah, after re-watching it, the way Katniss is running away scared makes it pretty creepy.
