Occasionally uncut editions are released over here, but if not I'll have the uncut shipped from the US. It still won't compare with seeing a weak version first time though. That will dull the impact for when the uncut version rolls around.
It is a shame, and it really did dull the impact for me. The violence and blood edits are extremely jarring and noticeable, for example people are getting injured (off screen of course, jarring camera work), and the weapons come out clean, it's just unrealistic. You can clearly see where blood has been digitally removed from a scene. Some scenes didn't even make sense, someone'd be there one second, dead the next with no death scene. And Katniss and Cloves face-off is ridiculously edited.
Yep, hopefully it's tomorrow for me as well, and if not, sometime over the weekend.
Why are you not going at midnight?
I have a midterm tomorrow morning and I have to be studying. @Ash apart from the violence issue, what did you think of the film?! Did it live up to expectation?
Have fun at the movie tonight, guys. 2 hours til it hits on the East Coast.

I don't want to be a Buzzkill Bill, but I didn't like it. Good luck with your midterm, and I hope you enjoy the film! And everyone else who is seeing it tonight and over the weekend
ok whats the difference between the score and the soundtrack. Im confused.
Soundtrack and score are the same actually. I hate when people call soundtrack to a compilation of music by several artists which is played or inspired by the movie. It's referred as a "V.A. (Various Artists)" disc.
So, even though there wasn't much cut out of the movie, Gary Ross doesn't really believe in the inclusion of extra scenes that were cut:
Are there things that you shot that would end up on an extended edition of The Hunger Games? It’s so funny because everybody asks about the director’s cut. This is the director’s cut. It’s not like anybody is making me take stuff out. I don’t believe in the inclusion of extra scenes. I was always bummed when Francis [Ford Coppola] showed everybody the scene from the French dinner party in Apocalypse Now. It’s like, no man I want to see what you and Richard Marx did in that movie. So, I don’t even really believe in the inclusion of extra scenes. Yeah, there’s stuff that I did that I like, things we shot that didn’t make it in. There was one whole scene in the woods that was between Prim and Gale that I thought was like a tender little moment and some stuff in the training center that didn’t make it in. But I think the movie should stand up on its own.
So I guess we might not be seeing anything that got cut out of the movie.
Gah I'm sooo jealous of the midnighters. Seems like the only midnight premiere which will live up to the likes of Potter. But oh well. I guess there's always Catching Fire.
I'm really disappointed to read that the fire outfits are not impressive or remarkable. It was one of the moments I was expecting the most. I better low my expectations down.

It still looks good. They're like wings of fire. There's just a few shots where it looks odd.

They looked like angels with fire wings lmao. But yeah, I cringed at that part. The fire looked so fake and odd but real at the same time. It looked fake on them, but it looked real.
I mentioned before that in a few shots it looked a bit like they had turbos on their shoulders. Especially in the side shots, because they're speeding along on a chariot XD But it's a very impressively done scene overall.
