Too jokey... would have prefered a darker tone to it all... it was my favourite book. Oh and I'm not digging the relationship overload. I'm more about the story... which could have been done better.
DH1:
Love the movie, but maybe some scenes should have been included like the deleted scene where they talk about the Horcruxes and Voldemort taboo. Mad-Eye's death was basically ignored too.
DH2:
Also just love this movie... including Tonks/Lupin/Freds deaths would improve it... and I didnt like the disintigrating Bellatrix or Voldemort... and I would have liked to see the Killing Curse actually hit Voldemort.
Anyway, that's ALL of my complaints. Not many, I know, but I love the movies.
I think someone said something about the moving of the viaduct being unpractical because the students have to walk through the whole castle to get to that side. I noticed in the birds eye shot of the protective enchantments going up that there is a path around the edge of the castle that leads to the other building.

Well actualy, there's another little courtyard that we only see in the games but sometimes from far in the movie. This courtyard was impossible to access without walking inside the castle but now you can since the bridge's remove.

You mean the one right beside the main tower? No, it was always accessible, I believe. That big archway beneath the Battlements has always been there. There was the path from the Entrance Courtyard that lead toward it, and that path now connects to the other building to compensate for the Viaduct.

Yes but it was just a kind of balcony. It was higher than the Courtyard.

Um, no it wasn't. The Paved Courtyard has been accessible since the very first movie.

In the first picture, the main tower doesn't even line up correctly with the Entrance Hall, so it's incorrect. Look at the films that feature the Entrance Courtyard (GoF onward), and you can clearly see a path.

Yeah I just rewatched GoF and you're right. I based myself on a model I saw which wasn't correct.
Yeah, it's accessible from the inside, not from the Courtyard :
On the last picture, zoom a bit on the Courtyard.
This isn't the Deathly Hallows castle and it clearely isn't accessible.
The theme park castle is a modified version, it was made smaller.
And you can clealy see it is accesible in the second picture. I think your eyes are playing tricks on you.
On this picture you can actualy see that it's not on the exact same level.
And being the HP1-2 castle, we don't know if there was an entrance in the back at that time.
I don't have another place to put this, but I am wondering how many of you noticed the ringing sound signifying horcruxes in HBP. When Dumbledore is looking at the diary, you hear ringing all the way up until Harry enters the room for the first memory scene.

So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
People are out of their mind thinking Watson is a good actress. She's awful in HBP. Another complaint of mine has to be for the cinematography. I'm 55 minutes in and I have already come across light bleeding twice: once during the first memory with the drapes on fire, and a second time when Minerva is interrogating the trio about the necklace. With the latter, you can see bits of the window overlapping her wardrobe.

Having watched the film in HD on a larger screen, I noticed that Ron does not pass out after he says that girls are going to kill him. I always thought he did, making me dislike that part of the movie. I no longer do.
The attack on the Burrow is better on a larger screen too. I noticed that the fire acted as a gateway for Harry and the others to pass through. They resemble swaying snakes, so when Remus and Tonks try to get through, the have to move around in hopes to dodge it. Ginny just happened to have no fear and ran right through. People often ask why they all couldn't put the fire out. Well, how do you know they could? We've seen no on-screen evidence of a hose-like spell, so it's not reaching to say that they couldn't. Molly stands there for a reason: she has been distressed during that time, as Arthur points out to Harry while they are in his garage full of muggle objects.

We have all noticed that. Most of us on our first viewing.
Lord Stafford.
People are out of their mind thinking Watson is a good actress. She's awful in HBP.
Emma has never been a particularly good actress. She'll have her moments, but that's about it. I don't see the point in pretending that she is 'great' because she most certainly isn't. Alot of that comes down to the fact that she was never really an actress. She was just a girl, picked out of a crowd. Lucky, if i'm honest. There are some who are either trained or just natural, but Emma is neither. Tell me, guys. Would you miss her in the role if she never existed in it in the first place?
Lord Stafford.
Having watched the film in HD on a larger screen, I noticed that Ron does not pass out after he says that girls are going to kill him. I always thought he did, making me dislike that part of the movie. I no longer do.
You dislike that scene for this? We all dislike it for it's unquestionably horrific writing.
I didnt see anything wrong with it, although the story of the Half Blood Prince to me wasnt that important, but the way they handled the Horcrux parts of the story was spot on, My friend who never read HBP, got that Voldy split himself in seven parts and into different objects. The comedy was a softer side to the movies we havent seen in a while, probably since COS. The burrow scene I though was chilling and well done, it showed how much the DE's were back in the world and how nowhere (not even at home for Christmas) is safe and it foreshadows loss for the last two films, we never seen the Weasleys go through any struggle in these films besides the ones around them so i loved how it played out.
DH1
MARK FREAKING DAY (and somewhat but) STEVE FREAKING KLOVES.
Starting with Mark, i had many problems with his editing especially after reading the script, i never understood why he took the scene out between Lupin and Harry at the wedding, and the scene in the tent with the taboo and horcrux backstory, that scene to me was the most pivotal to this part of the story.
NOW to Steve, I loved the way he wrote this movie but the movie did have some slow and kinda boring parts and is now the least favorite movie of some, I think what made it boring was that it was missing the key ingredent: HOGWARTS!!!! Hogwarts should have never been written out of the movie, thats what glued the audience to the seats, or at least a reason. To substitute for the "boring parts" Kloves couldve wrote scenes for the DA, Neville and the Carrows and Snape becoming Headmaster, not just some excerpt on the radio which would have made Part 2 more understanding when Neville said Hogwarts has changed.
DH2
Now I thought Part 2 was AMAZING but there was somethings that bothered me.
1. The deleted scenes: Some necessary some werent. Like the Bill and Fleur scene, that should've stayed in, it showed that they were planning out the last stage of their adventure and that they stayed at the cottage for at least a day than a couple of hours. To be honest, this movie should not have any deleted scenes.
2. More character based battles: This was the opportunity to show more McGonagall and Weasley action during the final battle in the Great Hall and the Battle of Hogwarts.
3. Fred's deaths: I remember David Heyman saying that Freds death was "powerful" because of Rons reaction, thats all well and good but the actual death would've been great to see on screen, my friend i went with on the midnight showing was confused on which twin died so it was confusing until Neville's speech which twin died.
4. Courtyard Scene: That would have been so epic if we did see all of it, but i see why it was cut.
5. Aftermath Scene: There is a scene we havent seen where Harry walks back after defeating Voldy and everyone is watching, I would have love to see how that played out, i didnt like the cut to the Great Hall with everyone sitting and talking, there should have been some reaction to this, Harry just took Voldy out, i mean come on.
6. Unused Scenes: With the trailers and first looks and everything i noticed a lot of unused scenes for both movies, which leads me to wonder what scenes are alternate cuts and extended scenes did Mark Day and David Yates do, because i remember back in November the guy who played Dean Thomas said he filmed a scene with the Weasley twins holding off DE's from entering the battlements and David Yates saying "he used every inch of film"
LoyalWeasley18 - POTTERMORE EARLY MEMBER -CRIMSONICE199-
I just think Daniel was pretty bad in the first four films and much better in the last four, but still not great. The other two seemed more consistent to me and most of their issues were writing and directing problems and not necessarily their fault.
I practically agree with it all. Although I do think the half blood prince story was important for snapes characterization and you realize how experienced he is. I think DH1 needed atleast one hogwarts scene. I missed hogwarts in that movie. The deleted scenes you mentioned should not have been cut. But overall I love the movies. Love your post!
@Richard It needed more than one scene, they could have added a scene where the DA tried to steal the sword from Snape's office, Carrows classroom, DA retreating to the ROR, students learning new regulations under Snape's rule.

Before my change of mind, yes. It made no logical sense for him to have enough strength to say something about the girls and then pass out.
@LoyalWeasley18 I actually consider DH1 the best movie in the series.

I think adding an attack scene with DEs and/or Dementors in the middle of the camping scenes in DH1 would have been great to remind the audience of the constant danger the trip was in and spice them up with a bit of action.
We had that with the excellent voiceovers from the radio reports. That was enough to convey the danger, along with the brief interaction with the snatchers

How is it stupid? The girls were using love potions. All Lavendar wanted to do was snog Ron. It makes sense given what he just went through.

As much as it makes sense, it is still just another one of those stupid Kloves moments. Take what Ron said to Harry after he destroyed the Horcrux for example; as much as that may make sense, it's stupid.

I've been thinking about it too and I think the two Deathly Hallows films are the most well-made of the series, and at the moment, I enjoy Part 1 a lot more. Severely underrated.

The thing is thats kinda the point. We hear about all these people dying and the trio can do nothing to help while Harry doesn't know what to do at all.
Indeed, @RowlingintheDeep. The film is from their perspective most of the time. There's no need to waste screentime showing these deaths when it's more haunting hearing it while they are in their isolation.

Yeah I agree. Sure we heard stuff about it, it would have been much more effective to see the trio getting attacked.

For the same reason anyone would. It shows poor writing skills. Listen to both of them, and then tell me that they are not.
