Plummer had the only deserving standing ovation of the night. A great man, a distinguished career and finally some recognition for a wonderfully spry performance.

I felt Spencer's win was well deserved as well. She was excellent.
Picture - The Artist Director - Hazanavicius, The Artist Actor - Jean Dujardin, The Artist Actress - Viola Davis, The Help Original Screenplay - Midnight in Paris Adapted Screenplay - The Descendants Original Score - The Artist Original Song - The Muppets
BUT, I can totally see Hugo winning Picture, Director and even Score. Or even Screenplay. It's winning everything. Actor and Actress are in the air too, Streep and Clooney could win.

You're joking, right? Every award won by a black actor, actress, director, etc is worth of a standing ovation. This is ESPECIALLY true since the industry has so few of them. Extend that to all minorities who are nominated.

So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.

The Help is quite possibly the safest film they could have acknowledged, one-note and unchallenging populist fare that was designed specifically to cater to the Academy. When a film is made that actually deserves a standing ovation, by a director who says something about race that doesn't appeal to the sensitivities of the Academy and doesn't have a popular book to help him get their attention, then I will give one. But I also think it's counter-productive to do so simply because of its racial content, or the color of one's skin.
The Artist's score is impeccable, especially considering The Artist is a silent film. The music evoked emotion, created excitement, and did so much for the film.
Crystal pokes fun at poor people and the audience laughs. How am I being cynical again? I wouldn't shed a tear if that entire auditorium was blown up while all of those useless cunts perished. Actually, replicate the scene in Inglourious Basterds.

As per usual as of late, I am with you...lol
The answer doesn't have to necessarily be a Gervais-esque host, but every time Crystal opens his mouth I think I can see dust from the 90s flying out...

Stay tuned for Tarantino's next monstrosity where you'll see all the lynching and slave murdering. That wil probably be the most accurate to the brutality blacks have faced for centuries.

It made a lot of money but only paid 15% in tax. Cue audience laughter.
