Bad (and predictable) choices so far, except for Best Foreign Language Film, 'A Separation' is a masterpiece and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo winning Best Film Editing, which was completely unexpected.
I've actually started rooting for 'The Artist'. Hugo didn't deserve any of its wins. Don't get me wrong, I like the film and I think its techs were impeccable, but come on. Better visuals than Apes, Potter and Transformers? Better Sound than Drive, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Transformers AND War Horse? Better Cinematography than the divine Tree of Life? The Iron Lady, a film that has received absolutely terrible reviews, is an Oscar-winning film?
I'm fine with Hugo winning Art Direction, Christopher Plummer winning Best Supp.Actor and Spencer winning Best Supp.Actress, though I'm not a fan. But at least they are satisfying winners. But, seriously, the rest of them are a joke. Undefeated Best Documentary? Over Hell and Back Again, Paradise Lost 3 and Pina? SERIOUSLY? What are they smoking?
