Congratulations Hugo for your use of generic Art Direction, Use of few sets, and little decoration while we had one of the most gorgeous films in terms of art and design, Beautifully designed and dressed sets, and wonderful lighting. We will go down in history as Hugo will fail to remain a known classic for generations to come as Potter will always be regarded in hearts and be known as one of the best designed series of film known to humanity. So I am not disappointed or bitter. When history plays out Hugo will be long forgotten as Potter's Art Direction will be admired for many years for its use of detail and fine craftsmanship.
@Richard wrong. These technical awards are consolation awards for Hugo not getting Best Picture. They did the same with Inception. Terribly generic cinematography winning over truly great nominees
Hugo's cinematography was "hey, guys. let's have an extended opening with nothing but CGI and then replicate that shit for two hours."

Yeah Margaret Thatcher's makeup in that tiny clip they showed was pretty damn awful, it looked like the vampires from the first Twilight film. Oh well, we had a good run, at least we were shown in the opening montage--you can expect Apes to get the VFX award.
