Oh wow, really? Awesome. Hope you can get into the series, it's pretty great. The prequels get a lot of unwarranted hate-- for the most part. There is some bad dialogue and some stiff performances, but not all the way through and the juicier emotional moments are very well acted, particularly in Episode 3.

However I still say they're some of the greatest theatrical experiences I've ever had.

You should of seen 4,5 and 6 before watchign the prequels :\ its gonna spoil you the original trilogy dude..

  • BaneBane Posts: 9,869 ✭✭✭✭✭
The only real plot twists in the original trilogy are stuff that is so widely known that I don't think it even matters anymore.

And, here's how I see the twists:

If you watch the OT first, it's shocking to find out that Luke is Vader's son.
If you watch the PT first, and know this before watching the OT, it becomes about waiting for Luke and Leia to find out everything.

So either way it's pretty cool, and when Lucas did the prequels, he realized that by now, everyone is going to know the twists regardless because of pop culture. They're twists that you know about even without having actually seen the films. It's just that, depending on which "trilogy" you start on, the experience changes. I mean there was no way for Lucas to do 1-3 without giving the stuff away and he made them to show the fans how everything went down before the OT.

Haha, well, it still did very good in the box office, for a movie that everyone supposedly hates re-released in a shoddy 3D conversion.

$35 million in just 10 days for a movie that has gotten over a decade of hatred, and supposedly ruined everyone's childhood is pretty impressive.

Only a fucking moron of the highest magnitude would go see a movie that they hate just because it's post-converted 3D. One of my friends saw it and said the 3D was terrible.

There were some extended scenes in the film. The pod race was extended and there was a scene in the captial planet. I don't understand why everyone is saying that everyone hates this movie. That just isn't true especially people who are older then you guys.
  • CarneCarne Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭
People who are older are exactly the ones who don't like these movies. Or just people who grew up with the originals in the first place.
  • decarusdecarus Posts: 5,953 ✭✭✭
You mean didn't like the prequels then and not just don't like Star Wars. Yeah there is a lot i don't like about the third one, but there is a lot i do at the same time. The plot has issues, but the action is great.
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Ok, I enjoyed it. The 3D and cgi- gorgous. Action- great! I love all the imagination that went into this. I dudnt have high expectations but I guess that made me enjoy it more. The story is confusing, I knew it would be. But overall, it was good!! :)

    7.5/10

How... in the hell... is the story confusing LOL RICHARD IT'S A KID'S MOVIE
  • BaneBane Posts: 9,869 ✭✭✭✭✭
And yes, the imagination is insane, it's one of Lucas' strengths. And he can direct action fantastically well. He's seriously one of the greatest action sequence directors of all time.

Understandable that the politics might confuse you a bit, but nevertheless glad you liked it!

How was Qui Gon and Obi Wan vs Darth Maul in 3D?
  • RichardRichard Posts: 48,703 mod
Well it is confusing! lol... But I wont question it, I really really enjoyed everything that I saw.

Marty, it was in one word: epic!

It had me on the edge of my seat, literally! Like that whole 40 min ending was gold. If i rated that it would be a 10/10 hands down!
  • BaneBane Posts: 9,869 ✭✭✭✭✭
Wasn't the podrace just absolutely magnificent?

YES. That scene and the last 40 min were the most memorable. I cant stop thinking about it, I wanna see episode 2! There was that part though that I was falling asleep, it was the meeting with the senate.

Yeah that scene is boring as fuck. Thankfully it's the most boring stuff in the entire prequel trilogy. Episodes 2 and 3 are never dull.

I've just seen it, last night. And the 3D enhances the story. It isn't there just for the sake of it, and most of the 3D elements don't have objects flying directly at you. This is one that works, and one that makes you feel like you are actually living in the movie.

The music from the original film is arguably the best score of all-time.

Amazing score. I remember playing SW: Galactic Battlegrounds, wich is basically an Age of Empires mod of Star Wars, with that music in the background, it was genius.
