The Official Film/Videogame Soundtrack Thread
I figured I might as well start this since everyone's talking about film soundtracks, and I feel like videogames also deserve to be right there with films. It really is a bit of a shame that neither of em have a award show because soundtracks just get mentioned once in Grammys and once in Oscars.
Anyways I'll kick things off with Kirby's Epic Yarn

The soundtrack is overall great lots of peaceful upbeat yet melodic music, some of it is quite jazzy with several remixed/arranged tracks from previous Kirby games.
LittleBigPlanet

This track alone sold me over, so much variety of music in this game styled in many cultural forms because the game takes place in everyone's imagination 'the world of dreams' quite calming but do to the nature of the game not every track is for everyone's taste quite unique for it's own music.
and the last one I show you before I start overloading you guys with videogame soundtracks

Yep a live performance of HP video game music for a show/concert called Video Games Live a celebration of videogame music
Fun Fact: Jeremy Soule the composer of the first 4 Potter games and the Quidditch game is known as the John Williams of videogame music. His other works include Knight of the Old Republic and The Elder Scrolls series including the newest one Skyrim.

Now, the Elder Scrolls soundtracks are a great companion to the game, in fact, the worlds are more complex because of how the music changes so much. But after playing them for SO LONG every time I hear the music something inside me goes: "Have I saved yet? Do I want to go in there or over there? what mission am I on? side quest?"
I found this great collection of Greatest Video Game Music collection by the London Philharmonic Orchestra on Grooveshark that takes the classics and orchestrates them.
I love all these soundtrack talk!

About videogames, I recently loved the soundtrack for L.A. Noire:
And I love the main title themes for the GTA games:
I am also in love with the scores for ther Silent Hill series, namely 2, 3, and 4. here;s an excellent piano piece with creepy backgrund music.
So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
My favorite soundtracks:
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross
Final Fantasy 6,7,8,9,10,12,13, 13-2
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Uncharted 2
Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario Galaxy 1, 2
Super Metroid
Silent Hill 1, 2, 3, 4, Homecoming, Shattered Memories
Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, Code: Veronica, 5
I am FURIOUS that this wasn't in the official score...
This song right here has so much heart it's insane.
I don't play many video games, but NOTHING will pass how Assassin's Creed has touched me. The story is just so above anything I've ever played and I care dearly for all the characters. It's incredibly cinematic and tells this marvelous story beautifully. If the series ends, I'll be so sad. If the movies that are reportedly in progress come out half as good, we're in store for the greatest video game movie of all time.
Loll no not really. I'm not exactly liking the yearly release, but apparently the game coming out this year has been in the works for 3 years, so I'm assuming they're going for a big jump and do something very different instead of just like bombs and clotheslines.
Lord Stafford.
Lord Stafford.
Back to the soundtrack: I really love the main theme, Greek fire, investigation and forum of the ox.
btw did anyone notice how the graphics in the last sequence with Desmond and the guys seemed upgraded?
@Hess While yes the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack is nice I don't think it's the best soundtrack ever it's the best western video game as for soundtrack I don't know many western soundtracks video game or film related.
@yonythemoony wow those really are nice definitely seems sad the composer is outspoken. Also not payed much attention to L. A. Noire so thank you for bringing the soundtrack to my attention and yea the GTA games have some pretty decent themes.
@Jason heh there's definitely some quite nice tracks in the games, I have all the video game soundtracks complete. Some tracks not even released including the umbridge office choir one that @phineas mentioned in the favorite HP tracks thread
@NumberEight I definitely love the safe haven theme, it really is a bit sad RE 4 didn't take the route it was originally going to take more of a sort of ghost theme rather then zombie/action but RE4 is not a bad game RE5 though yea it's bad...it really is annoying cause we have the umbrella zombie horror trilogy. Silent Hill 2 music is great, and the film is one of the best video game to film adaptions out there, I'm even surprised they kept most of the soundtrack intact even the original works the composer did for the film could easily work in a Silent Hill game.
@Bane all pretty great soundtracks indeed
@Sir_Cadogan I don't know what to say on that but whoever that guy is is awesome.
@phineas I actually prefer Arkham Asylum/City scores and games to the film, not that the film/scores are bad just overall they kind of hit the nail on the head for my preferance of batman. Actually Kingdom Hearts was on my list of soundtracks I was thinking of posting, immediately fell in love with the Hollow Bastion theme/level artwork, there's also a couple piano arrangement albums out there which are quite nice.
@RowlingintheDeep I've sadly not played the Assasin's Creed games, the first got bad reviews and I couldn't really dig the italy style of the 2. I know, it's bad to judge a game by it's cover etc, but now I've played a tiny bit of the first I'm hooked, great tracks btw.
@Richard You mean Donkey Kong Country 2
@mattStrelow Nice, Alan Wake, quite an interesting choice
@mamoun that would actually be an interesting thing to see, I am an odd mood at the moment though and somewhat don't want to see DH2 though after @RyGuy new stuff video it's put me in a odder mood
Anyways I bring you all: Megaman
which sounds like
the Kingdom Hearts piano collection
Clue
Mass Effect because Mass Effect 3 is coming soon
Myst
and finally rounding off back to Megaman the video games live edition of course
I know right
