This seriously made every action movie I've seen in the past decade look like a sterile pile of shit. So much color, vibrancy, variety, EXTREMELY colorful directing-- this was Brad Bird THROUGH AND THROUGH, if you can imagine something like The Incredibles but in live action, you'd get something very close to this.

It's over 2 hours long and somehow the action almost doesn't stop. Seriously one of the best action movies I've seen since Aliens. Holy fucking shit.

The main plot of MI4 has no connections to MI3, however, you know how Quantum of Solace's plot didn't have anything to do with Casino Royale's plot, BUT they were still connected because of Vesper? Hm I should stop here.

Oh I didn't mean that literally, lolll. CR is one of my all time favorites, it really is, so QoS wasn't anywhere near as good to me. It was still good, but a little bit of a letdown considering how much I loved CR.

i think it's a stand alone film.... i haven't seen any M:I's since the first one, and I thought this was outstanding. I would love to see this same team on another assignment in a future film. loved this team, and their chemistry.

That just depends greatly upon how much that particular subplot means to you I guess. I loved MI3 and the relationships established there, and its emotional core, so the stuff in question in MI4 was of great significance to me. It's really hard to expound upon it without spoilers, although I think I've already somewhat hinted too greatly at it.

Nah it wouldn't affect that particular view, no. You can ENJOY the movie without prior information, BUT one character has a secret that directly pertains to something established in MI3 and I think without seeing MI3 it would lack the desired impact.

What I'm saying is... you can enjoy the film overall without it, but I must insist on watching MI3 because it's a fantastic movie ANYWAY, AND YOU SHOULD WATCH IT, and not only that but it makes a few things about MI4 a lot better.

MI3 is an intense and emotional roller coaster. It's still my favorite Abrams film, even after Star Trek and Super 8 and I loved those.

But MI3 just flat out brings it.

Oh yeah, the entire film could have been about those two girls and it would have been good. That's one thing I REALLY loved about the screenplay, all the new characters had some importance and backstory to pitch into the fray.
