Okay, so as this phenomenal series is so close to an end, let's share how we came across this world of Harry Potter and how it gradually became a way of life for us.

Here's mine :

I wasnt a Harry Potter fan from the start. I did not read the books and I rarely watched HP movies. This was around the time the third movie came out. My cousin, who lives in Australia, left his copy of POA at my place and I started to read and found the story very engaging. And then I saw the movie on DVD and it was a wonderful experience. But I still wasnt a hardcore fan until I started reading the fourth book and then GOF came out. That is when I actually became an HP geek, looking at all the trailers and pictures numerous times, keeping track of the news, counting the days left for the next movie's release.

It has been an absoulutely amazing experience and HP will always be an integral part of my childhood :)

I've been a fan since the beginning of 2001. I saw SS opening night and since then went to 2 midnights (POA and GoF) and got and read all the books.

All in all, I love and will always love HP.

My memory is a little hazy, but here goes:

The films introduced me to Harry Potter. When I was 8 yrs old, my half brother gave me a copy of Philosopher's Stone on video. I watched some of it, but didn't really like it. The scene that freaked me out was Voldemort in the forest. I lost interest and thought it too scary. Then people at my school were saying how cool it was but I didn't catch the hype.

In 2002, COS came out in cinemas and my school was organising a trip to the cinema to go see it. I didn't want to go, so I stayed at home all day.

Then POA came out in cinemas in 2004 and the adverts were being constantly played on TV. However, I was more excited about the new Scooby Doo movie. It wasn't until POA came out on Sky Box Office, was I really interested. I remember sitting down with my mum watching POA in the evening. When the movie had finished, I really enjoyed the experience.

Then I went back and watched PS and COS. In July 2005, Half-Blood Prince was being advertised all over the TV and it was on the news too. I went out and bought the book. I didn't really understand it at first, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Then I bought the OOTP book and read that, which really got me immersed in this world.

GOF came out in cinemas, but I waited for the DVD to be released. I watched it and it was my favourite Harry Potter movie for a long time. Then Deathly Hallows was released and I enjoyed it too. I was in London at the time so I waited until I got home to Wales to get the book, as London's stores were PACKED with people buying DH.

And so OOTP came out in cinemas, but I felt a little disheartened that some scenes weren't in the film, because I had a clear picture in my head what certain things would look like. As time went on I realised that books are not films and that you cannot compare them.

HBP came out in July 2009 and I remember going to the cinemas with my friend, but I was not expecting too much from the film. But I was pleasantly surprised - I thought it was really good. After HBP was released, I went out and bought books 1 - 4 and read the whole series. It was amazing. I also got Tales of Beedle the Bard, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages.

And here I am now awaiting the release of Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2.

Haha yeah, I can totally relate to that :)

I got my copy of DH at 8 in the morning on the day it was released and I finished it by noon!

And yes, even I was disappointed with OOTP at first but then when I learnt about the process of adapting a book into a movie, I began to understand why it was important to leave out and change some stuff.

I had huge expectations from HBP cause the trailers looked awesome and the movie lived up to my expectations :)

Yeah I remember when I started getting into HP....
I remember when the first movie came out my first reaction to it, believe it or not was "eww that looks like the stupidest movie in the world",my cousin only liked the movies but still he was crazy about them. My best friend also loved HP and I thought "damn, this is seriously stupid" so up until GOF came out I still thought of HP the same way until....5 years ago I had a crush on this boy who loved HP. He talked about HP all the time and I didn't know what the heck he was talking about so one day I decided to give it a try and maybe get closer to my crush lol. So I started reading SS and I fell in love with the books. So ever since I've been with HP, and now I hate my ex-crush but it doesn't mean I hate HP.

I hated HP when I first heard about it. It sounded boring and stupid to me.

It wasn't until the third movie, POA, that I had any desire to try and read the books. I borrowed the first book from my mother in law, but couldn't get into it. I gave it back. I wasn't a reader before HP, so it was hard to get into the book. I borrowed it again before GOF hit theaters and that time it stuck. I had the first three books read before we saw GOF in theaters. As soon as we got home from the GOF movie, I asked my mother-in-law to borrow the GOF book. GOF took a little longer to get through. When I returned that one to her, she told me that she was buying all the HP books in hardcover and said I could have all her paperbacks (books 1-5)! I was thrilled. So as soon as I got home, I had Order of the Phoenix cracked open.

After I finished OOTP, I went out and bought my own Half-Blood Prince. I'm not a fan of paperbacks, so I was happy to buy it hardcover. After I read HBP, I started to buy all the other books in hardcover. After that, I re-read the series (to that point) seven times waiting for DH to come out. I joined online HP fandoms to talk about theories and rumors and clues. I visited JKR's website and was finding all the hidden things there. I was watching the movies over and over.

I timed re-reading the books just right, so that I was finishing up HBP right before DH came out. I had a book reserved for the midnight sales! I was so excited to go, and then my hubby found out he had to work OT that night and I had to stay home. I wasn't going to take three little ones to a midnight release *lol* That's just crazy. So I went and picked it up the next morning. One of the cashiers was dressed like Snape, acting like him. So many people were still there all dressed up. I wished I hadn't missed out on the midnight release, but that's they way it goes.

I got home and laid down the rules about not bothering me at all that day. I told my kids.....if there's a problem, take it to your father. Heh Heh Heh. >:D
I sat the book on the couch and just stared at it. I didn't want to open it. I didn't want to start that final moment where there would be no more books. The theories would all be proven right or wrong, questions answered. I didn't want to start because then the final moment that HP was over would come faster. I think it took me about ten minutes before I opened the book. I started at about 9am and finished up around 4 am the next morning. I've never been on as big of an emotional roller coaster with a book, as I was with Deathly Hallows. I've never cried as much with a book. I read DH two more times after the first time I read it.

And now I think back and what would have happened without HP. I don't think I'd be into books as much as I am now. I love to read now, and I can honestly say that it is all thanks to JK Rowling and her very creative mind.

I grew up in a family of Harry Potter lovers, so naturally I was christened into the legacy of reading the books. When I was little, I can't remember--about 5 or 6, I started reading the first book. I was really scared of Voldemort and had nightmares--but I loved the book sooo badly, I had to keep reading. So I read Chamber of Secrets, which was freaked me out even more. It wasn't until I'd finished those that my parents let me watch the first two movies. I remember I was really excited to see them and loved them both. My older sister showed me the trailer for Prisoner of Azkaban, which I hadn't read and thought looked very good but different than the first two. My sis explained that it was a different director and would be a different take on the film. I remember wanting to know so bad what scenes were in the trailer and my sis just mocked me and said, "you'll have to read the book!"

So I did. I read the second two books, Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire. I finished both in about a week and a half; I was an extremely good reader. I read at school and at home. When Prisoner of Azkaban came out in theaters, I was so excited but didn't watch it until it came on DVD. It was the most exhilarating experience of my life; I LOVED it so much. And I was told I wasn't allowed to see Goblet in theaters since it was PG-13, but I was around 13 and was really mad, so I waited until it came on DVD and watched it at my friend's house with their family. I was scared, beaten down, and excited afterwards. It was an aggressive and amazing film, filled with comedy and excitement. It was my new favorite.

Finally I decided to read Order of the Phoenix. I loved the first ten chapters, but after a while it began getting SO boring I decided to abandon it for a couple weeks. Then I realized, "A true Potter fan wouldn't do this!" So I reread the whole thing again, and it took me a solid month or two. By this time it had reached 2005, and I had finally caught up to the series. My family and I were eagerly awaiting the release of Half-Blood Prince, so we went to the midnight premiere. I was dressed up as Harry Potter. When we bought the book I read the side flap in the car and looked at all the chapters. I rememer feeling an excited swoop in my stomach; it all looked so amazing.

When it was finally my turn, I read it all and was a bit confused; after some explaining from my sister, I finally got it. This is when I became a real Potter geek; I checked MuggleNet daily and began to check out all kinds of movie sites and Potter fansites. To this day, I still visit TheLeakyCauldron, SnitchSeeker, Oclumencia, and Portus. I remember watching the OOTP trailer online, even though it was only 1:00 long, and screaming with happiness, even though it was about 1:00AM. We'd just gotten home from vacation and everyone was really tired, but I was the only one really excited to watch the trailer. I even went to see HAPPY FEET just to see it on the big screen. Finally, the Order of the Phoenix movie came out. I loved it all, even if it had its quirks.

After OOTP came out, I couldn't attend the Deathly Hallows midnight premiere so I had to wait until about 1AM to find my older sister returning with my copy. I read it all until about eight in the morning. I had to reread it again the next day when I was freshly awake and could glory at it in detail. I cried a couple times, and that was the first time I'd ever cried while reading the book, if you don't count the welling tears from the end of HBP. I then decided to become the true fan. I bought all hardcover books (inherited the copy of SS from my mom--it was a First Edition!) and bought all the Special Edition DVDs. That December I got Beedle the Bard, Quidditch Through the Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where to find Them, and all my other memorabilia. I've gotten more and more Potter collectibles from that Christmas on.

I became a fanatic researching HBP. I loved all the trailers and was extremely pissed when it was delayed. Finally I went to see it with my sister and her boyfriend. We all loved it and I came home crying, because it was over so fast. MONTHS of anticipation eventually led up to 2 1/2 hours of the final product, which went as fast as it came. I now am eagerly awaiting Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2. I heard a story from one of the fansites of a new trailer report from a trustworthy source over at HarryPotterForum.com. I decided to check it out. I anonymously checked the website all the time for news from Journ1 and Dream_Silently. Journ turned out to be a fake and I was mad at him. I began to live off Dream's news and when they went away, I eventually joined here to actually have a say in the conversation instead of reading it all.

Whoa, comment too long--well there's more!

I definitely could NOT live without HP. It has been my drug, my life and love for the past ten years. I've loved other book series' too, but none as much as the glorious Harry Potter. I've even been to London to cherish all the landmarks JK Rowling has made so dear to me. It really has influenced my life so much and without it, I couldn't talk in the incredible British accent I can today.

(I was so little when I started, I didn't even understand most of the book, so I had to reread a lot of times. I've read SS seven times, COS four times, POA eight times, GOF eleven times, OOTP six times, HBP six times, and DH thirteen times since then. I've watched ALL movies five times each and can quote up to an hour and 30 minutes of each film.)

    I was about 7 years
    old when the Sorcerer's
    Stone film came out,
    and I was extremely excited
    about it!
    When the movie ended
    I started crying a lot.
    I'm still trying to
figure it out, but I just
    can't. There's times
    when I watch SS and
    start crying like crazy!

    I don't know what
    happens to me, but
    I just start moaning,
    and I've got to tell
    you it's kinda pathetic,
    but truly emotional.

    Same with Titanic.
    You don't want to
    watch Titanic with
    me unless you bring
    two boxes of Klennex.

Well i was a massive Lord of the rings Fan back in 2001-2004 so when the trilogy finished i felt like i needed a new obsession.

I borrowed the first Potter film off of a friend and LOVED it! Loved the twists and turns and the atmosphere! Columbus really did well.

I then watched the 2nd one and again i loved it. By the time the 3rd one came around i wasnt interesed!

I was at a friends getting drunk and we decided to put it on. For some reason i HATED it. It didnt feel like the last two and i just dismissed it. I just must not have been in the right frame of mind to watch it because when i sw it again a few months later i LOVED it and i was my favourite one yet!

When i saw the trailer for Golblet of fire it REALLY excited me. Mainly because one of my favourite actresses was in the trailer (Frances De La Tour)

I got a big bunch of mates together to go and see the film and LOVED IT. It was so much Darker and mysetrious. I wanted to know what happened next and couldnt wait foir the film. One of the girls who i went to see the film with had read the nex book so on the way back to the car she told me about Order of the Phoenix!

A few months later i was filming in America, so i bought the book for the flight! I completely immersed myself in it for the next week. Took me a few weeks to finish but i LOVED it.

UMBRIDGE was my favourite character and it was her i was most excited to see brought to life!! I poured through pictures and trailers and clips and podcasts from then on.

I bought the Half-Blood prince book and LOVED that.

Loved Order of the phoenix film and UMBRIDGE is my favourite character in the entire series....imelda was perfect!

Deathly Hallows was the ONLY midnight book opening i went to and it was wonderful experience.
