    Mysterious thing time.
  • LOL great.

Anyway, personally I have literally no interest in watching a Doctor Who movie given that I had literally no interest in watching the show but I'll watch this... but yeah, if he's gonna do this, I hope he gets it over with quickly so we can get to St. Nazaire and that Capone biopic soon. He also once said that he'd like to make his TV drama Sex Traffic into a movie so I'd love to see that as well.

There are people on IMDb who think this movie is gonna be Americanized and Hollywoodized.

I have literally no idea where to even begin with that logic, or lack of it.

Let's hope Steve Kloves have nothing to do with the movie. Dr Who as far as I understand is very British.

Yates mentioned that he wanted Kloves for The Stand so he could come back unfortunely.

I've said nothing of importance in this thread, but here's something if it hasn't been said already:

Look at Star Trek. It was made into a movie in its own way, a reboot, by a successful tv and movie director.

    ...

    Weird

    ...

That sounds, oh, idk LIKE THE EXACT SAME FUCKING THING.

    Just my 2 cents.

Abrams' Star Trek is the only Star Trek that I have liked.

A war film directed by David Yates would be damn epic. If they have enough budget I will be watching his movie just because of the great battle shots he makes. Like a camera flying over the battleground than going down and zooming on the main characters. A bit like Courtyard Apocalypse.

LOL Yates loves to wait until make his films. He could make some great shots in a war film. He designed the shot of The Death Eater going to The battlements and attacking The Order.

Yates just seems like a very careful and delicate director to me. That's why I like him. He seems to think everything through and take many things into account, even if that means angering some.

And Benicio Del Toro has been cast in the sequel set for next year, most likely as Khan--count me in.

That's just what I think. In every behind the scenes you can see him taking a few seconds after someone asked him a question before answering. He really thinks a lot before shooting which is great.

"It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena". Oh dear, that just about says it all. I have a very bad feeling about this. I would love to see Doctor Who on the big screen, but honestly Hollywood would just ruin it for everyone. :(

They said the same thing about the STar Trek reboot and it was a sucess. If it we're Spielberg or Jackson, people would be happy. But it's Yates, that's why people complain-

With Star Trek i felt safe in assuming the film was going to be a success.
I was worried, admittedly, when news of the film came about, but once i read who would be behind the producing and writing
and that J.J. Abrams was directing, my nerves were immediately calmed.

When it comes to situations like this, a series getting a film release, i try to look at the situation with a fair eye.
I'm not so much of the crazed fan that i become blind with intolerance and hate towards something that hasn’t even happened yet.
For me personally, i feel David Yates would be just a tad ill-suited for directing a film around the Doctor Who Universe.
Yet if this is happening, and this film is made, I’m hoping i am proved wrong and that the film is as much a success as Star Trek. :-B
