Pre-Battle Montage

This is by far one of my favorite scenes from Part 2. It shows how the Death Eaters are just beginning to attack Hogwarts and everyone is fighting around the school to hold them off. I think including certain scenes (Neville on the Bridge, CoS, Extended Shield Scenes) was a brilliant move by the filmmakers. What do you think? These are the scenes in the montage I'm talking about:

1. Statues
2. Shield
3. Grey Lady
4. Chamber of Secrets
5. Neville on the Bridge
6. Battlefield

These scenes are just visually spectacular! What do you think?

Well, I consider all of these scenes as the first stage of the Battle of Hogwarts. I mean, the attack on the shield and the eventual destruction and especially the Battlefield sequence are pure action scenes. With the exception of the Chamber of Secrets sequence which I think is one of the weakest scenes in the film, I think that the rest of this entire part is absolutely perfect. Great visuals and cinematography. And so much excitement and awe.

Statues, Shield, and Battlefield are great!
I'm not a big fan of Neville or the Chamber of Secrets.

Didn't really like the Chamber of Secrets either. To me it ruined the momentum of the pre-battle montage and can imagine it's one of those scenes I'll skip whenever I re-watch the movie.

Agreed! Neville ruined it for me as well. I didn't like the C.G.I of the Snatchers charging.

Well, the snatchers charging wasn't much CGI at all.

The background I meant. Look at it.

When the Snatchers were shooting spells on the bridge, it looked like gunfire from an old movie.

I like it..Theres only one thing i dont like..
With this montage they set up for a HUUUGE battle wich in the end is not as grand as they made it seem.
And im talking about the duration, not the epicness

    Hope you like it!

I just wonder where all the Snatchers disappeared, as not all of them fell off the bridge, and only like one can be seen at the end (one of the same snatchers who ran after the trio in Part 1 :D).

It's funny that the Snatchers forgot they were wizards and could apparate.

Same with Greyback when Hermione blasts him away.

they can be seen in courtyard apocalypse
Ah, you are correct! Though that's not a lot of them.

Greyback was stunned. And if he wasn't, he slammed his head on the pillar and was knocked out. Problem solved :D

Nah, stun spells don't actually stun people in the HP movies + the pillar was made out of polystyrol so he should be fine ;)

A lot of them are definitely part troll, the smell of them.

I agree it's fantastic, but over "We Can End This" - Courtyard Apocalypse - Snape's Death - Prince's Tale - Forest Again?

I was kind of sad Ron never got to finish Greyback like he did in the book.

They are all superb, well-acted, beautifully-scored, dazzlingly-filmed, enough with the adverbs, I get it--but this sequence managed to thrill and enthrall and the VFX is something I will never be able to get over. I just love it so much.

I thought it was a great little moment for Hermione though. Even though she thinks Lavender is a complete gonk, she still respects her enough to try and protect her.

My favourite thing about this movie is how you're anxious before the battle begins. You can see everyone run in the staircase, statues walking down to the bridge, a protection shield being cast, bombs placed on the bridge... and then a lot of epic action sequences like the bridge collapsing, even the Quidditch field burning was such an awesome shot where we fly over it and then see Hogwarts and finaly end up on the bridge. I'm pretty sure one of my favourite shot in the movie is right after the "that went well" when we zoom in on Hogwarts while deatheaters are running/flying down with giants. So beautiful + epic dark score + amaizing CGI :)

Why do people call these scenes a montage?
