The Bloody Mary sequence is in the film, it's just totally different than what was in the trailer. Like they still play it but it's completely different, it's not the two little girls playing it, it's Katie and the boyfriend's friend.
Like I said before though, to release a trailer to a film then to have NOTHING from the trailer in the film is terrible marketing regardless of the content...

It's something of a double-edged sword. While I see your point, it was overall highly beneficial to the film. If someone really went to this because they liked the trailer, they have shitty opinions and as such I cannot sympathize.
I mean it's basically like, they went for one thing, but got something much better. Hard to complain there. There is nothing good or remotely terrifying about people getting thrown around and a psychic's head getting slammed comically against a table. Or a cheap water effect.
Yeah, but think about it like this: Deathly Hallows Part 2 trailer comes out, you watch, you think that stuff will be in the film but when you see the film nothing from the trailer is in the movie. You'd obviously feel mislead regardless of the quality of the trailer...

Semantics I guess. If the Part 2 trailer hit and looked horrible, I'd be eternally grateful if the actual film were better and lacked the things that I found bad about it. That's the difference here I think, it's that the footage was really bad and thus I'm perfectly a-ok with none of it being in the final cut. It's misleading, but also, for this type of film I think it is important to not give away all the good stuff-- they have to market it, but they clearly didn't want to spoil all the good things with a trailer.
It made everything super effective. Had they shown bits of stuff from the final film it would have made it more predictable and less scary because you'd have an idea of what to expect. It would have been like oh here's where the psychic gets thrown, gets his head slammed, resulting in audience laughter... there's nothing good or rewarding about that. The point you're trying to make is that the trailer misled audiences, but for this type of film I think that's fine because it only works if you have no idea what to expect.
I'm fine with being lied to if it means that I had a better time. And I had a much better time than I would have had if the trailers accurately reflected the film-- because they were terrible. It's hard to complain about going in expecting one thing but getting something vastly superior.
But surely that's opinion about it being "superior". I'm not saying it wasn't I'm saying they didn't show a thing from the actual film, not a SINGLE thing, that's what gets me.You can argue of the film being better without the trailer scenes but the fact is they mislead everyone by not showing anything from the film...
Pretty much everyone ripped the trailer a new one when it came out, including me, but the film is getting good reviews, good impressions, and I thought it was fantastic. Had it been like the trailer everyone would be bitching. I'm just finding it difficult to understand how this is a bad thing at all. Misleading? Yes, but this is a different type of film, one where giving away moments in a trailer is detrimental to the experience. I'm glad they understood this.

I didn't say it was a bad thing. The fact is they released a trailer with NO footage from the film and loads of cut stuff, it doesn't matter wether it was the worst trailer you've ever seen or not. And as for giving away moments, well surely that happens in every trailer, but the filmmakers don't go on to cut everything from the movie that was in the trailer...
For example, Paranormal Activity 2, it showed Hunter outside in the trailer, it was cut and I was left wondering, but for the most part the trailer for that had most stuff kept in the movie without being detrimental to the experience (and I'm not going into reviews I'm just talking trailers) What I'm saying is, what is the point of the trailer if it doesn't even advertise the film, When you watch it, it's completely different to what you expect, good thing or not it's misleading!!!
I might be seeing it today or tomorrow. I haven't watched the first or second, and I'm not a horror person (don't really see much being 16), so it should be interesting.
I also want to see Real Steel. The previews made it look like the worst piece of shit ever but it got a 61% on RT and I want to fucking know why.
No I'm sure it's definitely a piece of shit. A 61% on RT isn't exactly passing with flying colors.
AND WATCH THE FIRST TWO MOVIES FIRST.
Actually I was a very decent film. Way better than expected. Hugh and the kid are the stars of the film, and the robots fighting stuff was much more serious than expected.
OMFG I just came back from seeing PA3! Scariest shit I have ever seen!!! I'm never gonna sleep!! Oh shit who thought that the ending was the scariest part! I was freaking out cuz sooo much stuff was happening!!!
The problem with PA2 was that the angles were WAY too far away from everything, and one of the angles (of the pool) was a total waste of time.
In PA3, the cameras are positioned in much more effective spots, much tighter, and thus establishes more of a sense of... if something happens you're going to be like right there with it.
The directors of this film were definitely more adept to what makes this effective than the last.
Also the characters were about ten times more likable with better performances than anyone in PA2. As far as I'm concerned the two girls should both receive Academy Awards.
Well, I haven't seen it in a while, maybe your right, I probably need a refresh. I'll re-watch it on Netflix Instant.
I like PA2, don't get me wrong, I just thought PA3 was better in every single way. One of my friends who absolutely detested PA2 was so incredibly surprised by how good the third one was.
First of all, I had these really high expectations. When a horror movie gets pretty decent reviews, I usually tend to expect much more than what they actually offer. I don't know if the loud and stupid audience ruined the experience and the tension, but I wasn't scared at all. It's a pretty decent horror movie, with some predictable scares, and others quite genuine. The script of the others are much better and the story development much more intriguing. I thought the ending was a little bit lame too.
I still like the second one better. But if you enjoy the series, I highly recommend it
Some people just aren't phased by things. It's impossible to be along for the ride if you're not totally into it, and a bad crowd can easily kill tension.

This. It kinda ruined for me, darth. I don't know. I left the theater really mad lol
I went all the way to Porto Alegre (3-hour drive) just to see this. And it was worth it! The best PA so far! Amazingly effective, just incredible! And that final sequence was simply terrifying. Seriously. And the twist is just... gaaah
Ok, just read the sypnosis. This trilogy is pretty deep, and now no.2 makes loads more sense. I might watch it again, now that I actually know what's going on
I liked it. I'm just a little disappointed. Not with the film, but with myself. The first one I watched alone at home in the middle of the night and it genuinely terrified me. The second one I saw at the theater and while I liked the film, it didn't have the same effect. Neither did the third one. I definitely think it's due to the theater environment. I wish I had waited and watched it at home, maybe then it would have frightened me.
