Also, if audiences acted this way toward film back in the 80's and 90's, Terminator 2 would have sucked totally because of time paradox issues, Empire Strikes Back would have sucked because it ends on a cliffhanger and cliffhangers suck now, Cliffhanger sucked because it's actually titled Cliffhanger, Return of the Jedi would have sucked because it wasn't OMG RETURN OF TEH KING EPIC!!111, Halloween would have sucked because there's no blood and audiences have been desensitized by shit like Saw, and so on.
People have just gotten WAY more anal about filmmaking over the past decade and have completely and utterly lost any sense of the essence behind how they're supposed to watch movies, to the point where a director finally comes out with a grand sci-fi film complete with its own mythology, science, art direction and fantastic action, all people can do is complain that the basic fundamental plot elements can be found in a few other movies. Pretty fucking depressing.
