1. Gone with the Wind- The first time I saw an old movie that just swept me off my feet with it's sheer beauty and power, and I was blown away by Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara she was just perfect, and I fell in love with Clark Gable as Rhett. It's such an epic love story with an ending I think is great the way it is. They just do not make them like this anymore.
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2- This I won't explain to much because I think everyone here knows why :P The cinematic end to my childhood, and the emotional epic farewell that was portrayed perfectly on the big screen. It made me gasp, laugh and cry and I will never forget watching it.
3. Beauty and the Beast (Disney)- The music, the characters and the simple story of this pulled me in when I was younger and I didn't realize how much I loved it until I went to Disney World this past summer and saw Belle and the Beast and ran to them like I was a marathon runner lol I just love Belle I relate to her so much as someone who loves books but doesn't quite fit in and I thought the story was so sweet she was more relateable than any other Disney princess for me it never felt like an animated movie just an epic tale of love and looking past appearances
4. Breakfast at Tiffany's- This movie introduced me to Audrey Hepburn, and she just amazed me. This movie kind of indulges in my fantasies of the high life and that's why I like it, it's a break from reality. I hated Mickey Rooney as a Chinese man, it make me cringe but I always FF those scenes
5. Forrest Gump- This is when I was introduced to the master that is Tom Hanks. I was at home one weekend with my sister and they were playing a Tom Hanks marathon, and they started with this. I was so confused at first, but then I realized what they were doing and I thought it was so charming and clever and touching. Tom Hanks just pulled me in and made me feel what he was going through, and I know a lot of people think this movie is cheesy and overrated but I love it. After this they played Castaway, Big, Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan and I could easily switch in any of those in 5th place. I love Tom Hanks
5. True Grit 4. The Dark Knight 3. Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
01. Avatar 02. Titanic 03. Lord of the rings trilogy (I think they are like one film) 04. The Dark Knight 05. BraveHeart 06. Rise of the planet of the apes 07. Gladiator 08. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows p2 09. Spirited Away 10. Star wars - return of the jedi
This is my top 10 at the moment. bare in mind that it changes all the time:
1. Back to the Future 2. Almost Famous 3. Stand by Me 4. The Dark Knight 5. The Social Network 6. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 7. The Shawshank Redemption 8. Pulp Fiction 9. Donnie Darko 10. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
1. Lost in Translation 2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 3. In the Mood for Love 4. Dogville 5. Les Trois Couleurs: Bleu
6. Les Trois Couleurs: Rouge 7. 2046 8. Network 9. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? 10. All About Eve
11. Eyes Wide Shut 12. 2001: A Space Odyssey 13. Mulholland Dr. 14. Gosford Park 15. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King
16. Sunset Boulevard 17. Hero 18. Schindler's List 19. The Pianist 20. Harry Potter Final Trilogy: Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows Part 1, Deathly Hallows Part 2
Yeah, I couldn't choose a top 5. I can actually continue and create a list of 200 favorite films or something. :-))
BTW, I adore Henrick and Cadmus' choices. Great taste, guys.
15. The Godfather 2 14. Lawerence of Arabia 13. How to Train Your Dragon 12. Terminator 2 11. A New Hope 10. Patton 9. Children of Men 8. Apollo 13 - (Not 18, the new one, 13 with Tom Hanks in 1995) 7. Schindler's List 6. Raiders of the Lost Ark
5. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - for the ending alone. 4. The Social Network - I went into this film not expecting much and I thought it was just fantastic. 3. Wall.E - This was just Pixar at their best really. I love Pixar and I adore this film. 2. Edward Scissorhands - I just love this film. I think it's fantastic. 1. The Dark Knight - A truly incredible film. Everything is just perfect.

I don't mean to attack you or anyone that loves TDK, but saying it's perfect bothers me a bit when many other films deserve that 'perfect' title more (although, I still think no film is perfect).
First off, I'll start with Heath Ledger. He did great in his performance; I'm not denying that. Yet, Oscar buzz before the film even came out? I want to look back and try to imagine had he not died, had the crazy amount of buzz created by his death not been there, had it received regular marketing like any other film, and whenever I try to think 'what if' I simply get the fact that Heath's performance is treated god-like. Ask yourself this: could anyone else have played the Joker? The answer is yes. Think of other iconic roles. Could anyone else play Han? Could anyone else play Rocky? Could anyone else The Terminator? My answer to that: no. Heath was great, don't get me wrong, but it's way way way overhyped.
Batman Begins had a much more interesting story. We see Bruce Wayne; his thoughts, his feelings, his becoming of the Batman. Gotham is a much more realistic place with corruption and crime. Gotham in TDK is a super-hero Chicago in which one villain has all this plans work PERFECTLY! Every goddamn plan, and yes the joker is a schemer, every plan just works. Flawlessly. It's quite unrealistic. In TDK, we learn nothing new of Bruce. He's simply put; just there. The Joker seems to have as much screen time, and that bothers me quite a bit. Look at how much Bruce grew in BB and how much in TDK. Huge difference. You might argue 'oh it's the second film, not an origin.' It's a good argument, but let me point you to Spider-man. One reason why people like Spidey 2 over Spidey 1 is the emotional struggle Peter has with himself; not with a villain.
Nolan's action scenes in BB and TDK are very close up and it's hard to follow. When Batman has the sonar vision (or whatever), the editing is all over the place.
And now, the infamous boat scene. TDK worked so hard on building a gritty city of fear and corruption that the boat scene really lost for me. Almost as unrealistic as the Spiderman 2 train scene where he loses his mask, but at least in Spidey 2, we can use the excuse of 'everyone loves him and wouldn't do a thing to bring him down.'
What I want from Returns is more Batman! It's as simple as that: focus on your character. We got little to nothing of Bruce Wayne, which is extremely disappointing.
Hopefully after reading this, you'll see it's not a perfect film. Put in your top 5 if you will, but I personally think BB is much better.

Overhyped because of a death. And you know 70% of people hadn't even seen BB before he died.

That I did not know. I was one of those 70% if that's true, though. I really loved TDK at first, then I saw BB and was like: where the fuck was all that in TDK?! I watched TDK and noticed its flaws; something harder to do on a first viewing. I've watched it many times now and still come out with the same conclusion: BB > TDK.
Well, to me TDK is much more entertaining than BB and the music and the acting and the story was really good to me. Oh and heath did an amazing job had he not died he would have still won the oscar.

Talent was wasted in TDK imo; not enough Freeman and Oldman.
I'm just disappointed with the fact we don't grow with our protagonist. At all. Not even a smudge.
Bruce is losing hope hes been hurt so much hes like in the corner and he doesnt have a clue what to do whereas in BB he thinks he can do ANYTHING but the joker is a bigger threat to him. Bruce loses the girl he loves because of the Joker which hurts the character and the way he will evolve in the next movie.

Unfortunately, we see very little of that and feel almost none of it. The Joker takes Rachel away: another plan that works perfectly. And then there's the dismal performance by Maggie Gylenhall.
