A cryptogram is a message in which one letter is substituted for another. Here is a passage from SS/PS:
FZOPPO, EQ BAP ZPHB YXCZFZR AMCCQ MZO CXZ BAXJRAB BAMB YPPBFZR BAP BACPP-APMOPO OXR AMO EPPZ MZ PHLPUUPZB MOKPZBJRP, MZO BAPQ GPCP DJFBP NPPZ BX AMKP MZXBAPC XZP.
Clue: N=Z
Can you solve the cryptogram?

Alcohol and calculus don't mix. Never drink and derive.

...did I mention I passed with a solid D?
EDIT: Damn, really stuck, I think I stuffed it up.
indeed, by the next morning harry and ron thought that meeting the three-headed dog had been an excellent adventuge, and they were quite keen to have another one.
I believe there was a mistake made with the r in the word adventure.
I did not do it completely, I figured out that BAP = THE and MZO = AND and then it sort of became easy from there.
Another one will be coming up shortly.

They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair,
they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around
them.

I had a theory and that proved wrong, the other one also proved wrong... idgi :[

For example if you are given that H in the coded text is to be replaced by T when you decode it, IT DOESNT MEAN that the next letter I is to be replaced by U.
At first even I made the same mistake.
The best way, as Obliviator put it, is to look for the small words that are present more than others.
For example, in Obliviator's question, "HBD" came quite a lot, and given that H = T, you can start with the assumption that HBD = THE, in which case H=T;B=H and D =E.
Similarly, "HBDI" and "HBDU" must be they and then (you need to figure out which is which though). Now since "HBDU" is the first word in the second sentence, I assumed that it is more likely to be "they" rather than "then", from which you get:
U=Y
and I =N.
Understood???
I would give my methodology too:
1)Since Q=T, I assumed QIP = THE, which implies that I=H and P=E.
2)The last word KPFFPQ can be translated to, _E__ET.
3)The 2 blanks in between contain same letter. Going through the alphabets, only _ELLET (in which case F=L) or _ERRET (F=R) make sense.
4)_ERRET can be immediately recognized as FERRET (Draco Malfoy). The rest is easy.
i still find them a bit hard, since i'm not good with logical thinking and am a slow person.
EDIT - Marie!!! This is a pleasant surprise lol. Dont get to catch you at this time.
is this it?
Edit: I just came in, so didn't see the answer... lol

Should be enough for you to solve it. Apply your brains. !!!!
In CAPS, to read it better.

Right!!!!
EDIT - Aaron how did you do it???
But I would never post the results of an automated solver. But I was tempted.
I will be posting one from HBP in a moment.
