In the books, I love Sirius. The depth of his character always fascinated me, but I feel his portrayal in the movies wasn't as good. And Fred and George in the books are awesome. I love that Fred's death made me cry, considering that in the grand scheme of things he was essentially a tertiary character, but again, the films just didn't do them much justice. Hedwig is probably a favourite of mine as well, considering she's just an owl. I know it's harder to portray a personality in an animal when making a movie, but the book Hedwig has ATTITUDE and I love her! I love the way she has her little movements and gestures that Harry understands. I think she's well written and it's one of the reasons that in the book, her death is so tragic.
Probably Ron Harry was never my favourite character, to be honest... I mean he's great, but he would be nowhere without Ron and Hermione. (And everyone else that helped him out, really)
Luna is my favorite. She's so unique and she doesn't mind if others think she's strange for it. I'm also a big Dumbledore fan He's so intelligent and good willed, yet kind of 'quirky' at the same time.
Pottermore: Sparkswing90 "We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are."
Snape - Possibly the most intriguing and complex character in the whole series. Ron - How can anyone hate him lol? Luna - Yes, kind of, um, loony, but she's genious and likeable. DOBBY - Wow, where to start. "Dobby has come to rescue Harry Potter of course. Dobby will always be there for Harry Potter," and "Dobby has no master. Dobby is a free elf, and Dobby has come to rescue Harry Potter and his friends." ;( I have tears in my eyes just thinking of him saying this!
i think snape grew on me! obviously in the earlier books i thought he was a jerk but when i read the 7th book and saw his memories and how he died he really grew on me and he just made me feel like crap for hating him hahah
altho dobby has always been one of the most admirable characters because of the loyalty and personality shown!
everybodys amazing haha (except for bellatrix >.<)
Sorry, I’m going to quote myself from a previous post here. -quote- I have recently re-read The Philosopher's Stone and I think they really, truly captured the sense of loss and desperation you feel from Harry in the book. "The Potters smiled and waved at Harry and he stared hungrily back at them, his hands pressed flat against the glass as though he was hoping to fall right through it and reach them. He had a powerful kind of ache inside him, half joy, half terrible sadness." -end quote-
Okay, *deep breath* I’m going to be honest, when i was re-reading The Philosopher’s Stone last week and it came to Chapter 12, when Harry found The Mirror of Erised, i cried. I was but a puddle of tears on the floor!
It’s just the thought of this lonely kid who just wanted to know his mum and dad. As a kid you sort of see your mum and dad like heroes, like something you inspire to be when you get older. And all through the series we are reminded of how much Lily and James meant to him, even though he never knew them. There is just something so real about that. I mean love, it defines Harry’s character in the end, as he willingly dies for everyone. And that’s why I like Harry so much as a character, he embodies loyalty, loneliness and bravery all at the same time, but all in a grounded, real way.
With a character like this there was always the threat that it would be a struggle with the whole hero-complex thing. But I never thought that was an issue because I’ve always thought Harry’s character to be one of the loneliest in the series. I mean it all starts with this small boy who grew up in a mentally abusive home. Harry was alone. Even with the later introduction of the Weasleys. They took harry in, yes, but they weren’t ‘his family’, they could never be. He would never be part of a family until of course he married Ginny and had James, Albus and Lily.
He was also isolated by the fact that he was famous and that everyone knew who he was before he did. When he was introduced to his backstory and was finely told the truth about his mum and dad’s death it was by Hagrid, a complete stranger at the time. No one really ever knew ‘Just Harry’ but they all knew Harry Potter. Even the first conversation Harry had with both Hermione and Ron started with..a la “You’re Harry Potter! *gasp*" I have a real flood of sympathy for Harry. Even though he has friends and such and he's not alone entirely, he's still held apart from the crowd against his will. Yet as much as he wants to be normal and as much pain and loss he's had to endure he kept going, because he knew that people needed him, even if he didn’t understand why half the time he still fought.
I feel that Rowling really mastered that fine line between hero and martyr, managing to keep Harry's character grounded for the entire series. I don't know how she did it. It's kind of baffling!
I know, Lord Voldemort is cruel and wicked , but hes still the greatest wizard for me , his skills are great and he is Slytherins descendant . Dumbledore is also great ofc and he is my favourite too )

I had the same experience, but with the movie. I saw that recently and it almost makes cry... Good acting by Daniel (though he said he didn't feel like act at all during the first and second movie).

Also Lupin and Dumbledore; The Dursleys and Umbridge (deliciously nasty characters!) ;-)
See, that's how I feel about Snape. I know people are obsessed with him, but I could never get past his cruelty!
And snape is cool.
