Part of it might be that Star Wars is not based on books. It is sort of a fluid thing that could still have a future.

HP is based on books and when it ends it ends. There is no future. Also JKR making after the book is finished comments certainly doesn't help the future thought on the series.

I don't want it to end, but it has ended. JKR says she won't write any more Hogwarts books and the fact that she is commenting all this after the book nonsense i think proves that she plans to not write anymore.

It is unimaginable to me that there are people out there who haven't seen Star Wars. Also i remember when i went and saw the Phantom Menace which is the first one of the new three. The Star Wars music started and everyone in the theater just screamed for like the fist two minutes of the film. I am not even kidding. I have never had an experience like that at a HP showing. I have never even had an excited experience at a HP film and i always go the first day and have even been to a midnight showing.

I wasn't born when the first two Star Wars came out either, but they are part of our culture and it is a thing and i am just not sure if HP is the same sort of thing. I am not saying i don't want it to be, but we will have to wait and see. That is all we can do.

*lol* I remember when we went to Phantome Menace, the same thing happened in out theater. It was nuts. Star Wars was a pretty big thing in our house. I never got to see the original releases in theaters. A New Hope came out a year before I was born *lol*. So I was happy that they re-released them in theaters in the late '90's. Nothing like Star Wars on the 'big screen'. But it was cool, that when the new ones were released, my whole family went together to see them. So my parents not only had us kids, but all their grand-kids there. A whole new generation of Star Wars fans. It was rather cool.

Hmm.....it would be hard to choose between the two. True, I got into HP rather late in the series, but it's still my favorite set of books. Even three years after the last book came out, I'm still re-reading them. I'm working on Goblet of Fire.
I haven't read any of the star wars books, I just like the movies. I've passed it onto my own kids, and they love Star Wars. But I'm trying to make HP a big thing in my house. It's something I want my kids to pass on, along with Star Wars.

No, but there are books that have been written that kind of continue the story and what not. I've just never had any interest in any of them.

*lol* I wish I could afford collectibles. I want to get a wand to display and a figure of Hogwarts.
I've promised my kids wands though, so I have to do that before it's all over, at least.

A New Hope came out three years before i was born also, so i never got to see them in the theater either and i didn't go when they were re-released after they worked on them in the 90s. I have also never read any of the books and don't intend to.

Star Wars is still a really big thing and i am not sure if HP is the same sort of thing. It might be in some ways. It is hard to tell. I don't think you can't really know when something is going to be like what Star Wars was. It just happens.
