Rise of the Planet of the Apes started off with an incredible $19.75 million opening day, due to the word of mouth. This puts it on track to gross north of $50 million this weekend, whereas The Change-Up flopped with a $4.7 million opening day. Here are the projections for the weekend:

Captain America: The First Avenger - $12.5 million 6. Crazy, Stupid, Love - $11.8 million 7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - $11.7 million 8. Friends with Benefits - $4.5 million 9. Horrible Bosses - $4.4 million 10. Transformers: Dark of the Moon - $2.9 million
All official overseas numbers will be here by tuesday. If Domestic projections are correct we will be passing Transformers 3 Domestically today or monday.

That is simply magnificent news. I knew we would pass ROTK, but I didn't predict we would pass it so early on. We have the potential to get close to 1.5 billion!
Oooh, and if any of you looked at the Top 10 B.O. chart this weekend, it looks like the estimates are that we overtook Crazy, Stupid, Love by a sheer $60 thousand to get into 6th place. Wow.
